It is easy to have a blast with Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno due to simple controls, and constant action. It is even worth replaying when you have upgraded your guns to allow new routes to be taken. Don’t expect the same game, as on console, but rather something more suited to mobile gaming on the go.
A great adaptation from the console version, that maybe lacks some content. Sega has promised that will keep on updating the app and bringing new levels, so if they do, there's little to complain about.
Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno can be a lot of fun for a quick play-through, but some of the tougher elements were only first introduced in the final world, where enemies fire at the player with different weapons and where it is more difficult to maneuver.
To be fair, Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno isn't a bad game per se. The artwork sets it apart from the competition, and scoring three stars for each level will take a while. At the same time, there's little to distinguish the game from the numerous runners readily available, and we can't help but wish Sega would have just ported Wrath of the Dead Rabbit to iOS instead of publishing a companion title that for the most part is a mere shadow of its console counterpart. Worth $0.99, but let's face it, you've probably experienced a game like this before.
Far removed from the clever side-scrolling platformer on consoles, this odd mobile release takes the general game play of games like Rayman Jungle Run and adds some shooting.
A poor relation of its bombastic console kin, Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno is worthy of a minute or two of attention, but nothing more.
Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno is ultimately a mediocre side-scrolling action game that could have been much greater had it actually tried to invoke its predecessor instead of just referencing it through the art style.
