Everyday Spelunker isn't for everyone, and some people will simply give up before even attempting the game's later levels. That said, old-school platforming fans - and nostalgic NES lovers - can very happily buy with confidence.
The game is decidedly dated for numerous reasons, and although the game was a trailblazer for its time, the touch screen controls don't really lend themselves very well to a precision platformer.
There's a very simple way to decide whether Everyday Spelunker is for you: if you're looking to pick it up for the sake of nostalgia, or simply to fill a blank in your video game knowledge, then this is a great port, and well worth your time. If you're planning to pick up Spelunker for proper entertainment purposes, and/or you find that old-school games don't usually gel with you, I really wouldn't bother.
Everyday Spelunker ruined its promising start with its unsatisfactory control mechanic which led to more deaths than I could handle.
Though Everyday Spelunker does bring Spelunky to your iPhone, the atrocious controls and never-ending deaths make you wonder why they bothered.

Summary The game is faithful to the original console version – down to how quickly the hyperventilating explorer burns through his air supply. But you’ll also be holding your breath as you try to maneuver past bats, spiders, snakes and other horrors lurking throughout the four colossal levels!
