Grem Legends is one of the most addictive games I have played in a very long time. In this arcade style game, you face waves of enemies, known as Gremlins, similar to that of Call of Duty Zombies, which fall down the screen to try and eat away the villages and trees at the bottom of the screen. The objective is to tap and shoot down the enemies using either your archer or bomber and prevent the village and trees from being completely destroyed.
The game has two modes, an adventure mode, and endless mode. In adventure, there are six different stages, each with six waves of enemies which all get more and more increasingly difficult. Upon completing each stage, you can unlock that stage to be used in Endless mode. In Endless Mode, you can select any of the six stages from adventure mode and face unlimited waves of enemies.
The scoring system is unique because you can score points based off the different Gremlins shot down, and various powerups obtained, however on top of that, there is a score multiplier which increases based off how accurately you shoot down the Gremlins. Your multiplier increases after
every enemy shot down, and resets after three consecutive misses. This brilliant scoring system allows the player to not only focus on defending the villages, but also how accurately they shoot at the Gremlins. With Gamecenter support, you can compare your scores with the rest of the world on the leaderboards.
Overall, this game is an easy 5 stars, and I highly suggest you all check it out! I've been playing this nonstop for the past few days and I donâ
I stumbled upon the developers website about a little before the game came out. The concept art got me pretty excited for what I hoped to be a good game. 2 weeks later I saw the title in the New and Noteworthy section of the iTunes store and immediately checked the reviews. With a 5 start average rating I was convinced it would be a good game. From the start I could tell it wasn't like a lot of apps I had played before, its unique artwork and great sound effects had me hooked right away. The story is simple, play as either an archer or a wizard each with their own strengths and weaknesses, to help protect different areas of your village. As the chapters progress, you see different sections of the village as well as various more advanced gremlins that come flying your way. This game quickly gets very addicting and I will admit I was stuck on the higher levels as I advanced further, the endless mode was always a fun alternative before I went back and finally finished the level. This is a great game and a blast to play, its good to see something new on the app store that isnt another rip off angry birds or temple run. I would definitely recommend this game and it really is worth a try.
Surprisingly deep arcade classic with lots of great twists.
Grem Legends is on its surface a somewhat simple game: it's a take on the old atari classic, missile command. Gremlins rain down on your village from above and it's your job to shoot them before they land and start eating your houses. Not sure why they eat houses, but it's pretty funny to hear the crunching sounds when they do.
From there, the game adds its own take: in a really cool application of touch interface, you can fling the gremlins back into the sky off your houses. You also need to watch the stamina of your hero and switch between an archer and a mage as you play. The archer is accurate and fast, the mage is slower but has an exploding shot that hits multiple targets and can cause really satisfying chain-reactions.
The story mode has six levels, with each one getting progressively harder than the next. A few of my friends and I have played the game.. I found Adventure mode pretty easy, but some of my friends are still stuck on one of the chapters. I would have liked Adventure mode to be a little longer, but for 99 cents I sure can't complain.
Once you're done with Adventure mode, focus on getting a high score in endless mode. At first I assumed the idea was to simply defend one portion of your town, but the Gremlins overwhelmed me pretty quickly with that strategy. Then I noticed the score multiplier: for every shot you make, it goes up. And keeps going up. I don't know if there's a limit, but I got it to 50â
My son showed me this game and I have enjoyed it since! The only improvements I could really ask for are perhaps implement online cooperative multiplayer and maybe add some more powerups and characters to use. Overall this game is really great!
