All in all, Monster Life might not revolutionize monster farming, but it definitely doesn't do anything wrong, either. The new elements, while welcome, might not make the game as deep as you'd think, but the gorgeous display makes it a must-have for established fans of the genre.

It's a clever, rewarding, and adorable game for the most part, and one that probably shouldn't be overlooked.

Check out Monster Life for the visuals and the twenty monsters available, and stay for the addictive farming/ sim gameplay.

If you're looking for something different than the usual Farmville clone, then Monster Life could be the game for you.

Monster Life is the perfect game for those who loved Viva Piñata!. Gameloft doesn't hide its influences, bringing an almost identical gameplay from the very beginning. It has its own features though, like the RPG features. It relies on the idea of buying coins in order to progress faster, but there's no real need to do so, and we won't need them if we organize the way we play. You may dislike the free-2-play model, but if you like Viva Piñata! it's worth trying.

Monster Life is one of the prettiest and best constructed social freemium titles we've ever seen, but its core gameplay systems don't offer anything new or particularly interesting.

Let's face it, even calling Monster Life a game is a stretch, so much so that I am uncomfortable scoring it as one. As a gamer, I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to work on Monster Life. While the groundwork for making it a beautiful, and potentially creative Pokemon-meets-Animal-Crossing is in plain sight, it is ignored in favor of a carrot-and-stick approach to player psychology with little reward.
