Oscura’s return to touchscreens is a success thanks to its challenging platforming, dark gothic aesthetic and controls, which can’t be blamed for your deaths and instead allow you to game with confidence. Oscura: Second Shadow should jag platforming fans on its tough, pointy edges. [Episode 6, July 2014]

A very good looking and fun, if not very long, puzzle game.

If Tim Burton tried his hand at game designing, the dark fairytale platforming of Oscura Second Shadow would be the result.

I’ll still recommend Oscura Second Shadow to anyone that loves the visuals from the screenshots or are looking for another platformer. However, it’s a far cry from being a mandatory experience.

A solid and entertaining game, Oscura Second Shadow doesn't quite do enough to make it stand out from its predecessor.

This game will not be for everyone, and there are superior platformers available on the market that offer a greater gameplay experience. With that said, control issues aside there is replay value, with each level giving you a ranking out of four stars based on how well you perform.

It’s no great loss that yet another platformer fails to light the world on fire, as we’re spoiled for choices that match any range of different tastes. But it’s truly a shame that a game with such artistry and heart as Oscura: Second Shadow is crafted in such a boring, clumsy way.
