Blending the action of the "Quantum of Solace" feature film with the "Casino Royale" movie, the title propels players into the cinematic experience of international espionage. Based on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game engine that has been specifically engineered to immerse players in the Bond universe, the Quantum of Solace game delivers high-definition graphics, reactive AI and visually stunning locations inspired by locales portrayed in the films. Quantum of Solace marks the first time players can become the dangerous and cunning Bond as portrayed by Daniel Craig. From silent take downs and sneaking through confined spaces, to one-on-one shoot outs and large scale battles, players experience a variety of gameplay that challenges them to think through situations and choose how they progress, whether it's through covert means or confronting enemies in full force. Advanced combat and Realistic AI: Players engage in both first-person and third-person gameplay that allows gamers to be Bond in unscripted battles against the world's most evil villains and mercenaries. Filled with armed combat, massive explosions and vertigo-inducing chases, gamers are immersed in an authentic Bond universe and drawn into epic movie moments with theatrical camera angles, split screen effects, picture-in-picture sequences, and amazing environments inspired by real world locations such as Montenegro, Venice, Bolivia and Austria. Bringing James Bond to next-gen consoles for the first time, gamers now have the ability to battle online in a variety of modes. [Activision] Expand

  1. With Quantum of Solace, Treyarch absolutely nailed the James Bond experience.
  2. The cover-feature provides a tactical touch to the shoot-outs. Thanks to many different locations and surprises, the variety is sufficient. Considering the fact that there are a lot of good shooters on the market, we long for a little more Bond-feeling.
  3. It’s hard to really push for this one when it’s being released in the exact same weeks as other momentous AAA titles. It hurts to say it, but I don’t think this one is going to stay at the top of the stack; not to mention a six-hour gameplay time.

The take down system is cool, and the hacking has its heart in the right place. But the developer has been told: this game accompanies the film. Bond can't change the story. It's play it like you saw it on the silver screen, or reload from the last checkpoint. Fortunately, the production, the gestalt of this new-era Bond is strong enough to make QOS a pile of fun. Largely solid, but it's just not exciting. [Jan 2009, p.99]
  6. Graphics and sound are good and the weapons are convincing, even KI and controls are good. If the game was longer and would have a convincing story, it could be a well done shooter. But the developers apparently forgot that second part of the recipe for good games and so the game is too short, without soul and too expensive.
  7. Quantum of Solace will give you enough of a Bond fix, but you’ll be jonesing for something better.

Straightforward FPS gameplay mechanic, but with a with a few twists thrown in the mix like the excellent cover system that's necessary to the game and doesn't feel like a tack-on, the timing challenges for takedowns and mini games for hacking locks. A few years on it looks a little dated, but the upside is now it's in the bargain bin. Expand

Its gameplay is quite good combining the first and third person ... also being able to use the walls and your surroundings as boxes or wallsIts gameplay is quite good combining the first and third person ... also being able to use the walls and your surroundings as boxes or walls to take cover as in gears of wars or the godfather (the game) ... its music is good .. . Fighting in the style of jame bond while some of those songs are playing are the best ... Something bad about the game would be its history, despite that it is faithful to the original ... also how easy it becomes to have such perfect mechanics even in high difficulties, its scarcity in extra since we only unlock a museum and we can only limit ourselves to see characters or weapons and the somewhat "short" of the game ... although you can play it again In summary

the game is good, it deserves more love and better understanding ... Activision did not make bad 007 games, the fans were only blinded by the essence of Rare and EA

Generic FPS in Bond clothing. Kind of fun, but really not triple A, and not worth $50. PC port is a little shoddy, does not run as well as Generic FPS in Bond clothing. Kind of fun, but really not triple A, and not worth $50. PC port is a little shoddy, does not run as well as COD:WAW due to capped framerate, but not that bad. Wait until the price drops, there is at least 15 games I would buy before I thought about paying for this one. Expand
