Oct 14, 2020The odd-ball of the AoE family is back and is better than ever. This remake won’t change the minds of people who didn’t like it upon its original release, but it does celebrate an RTS that dared to try something new.

Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition offers us a spectacular remastering. New content for the campaign and visual improvements make this title an unmissable installment for RTS fans.
-
Oct 14, 2020Smart and much-needed changes bring Age of Empires III to a new level, providing a quality strategy experience newcomers and lifelong fans are both likely to enjoy.
-
Oct 15, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is an unmissable title for lovers of historical RTS and is an excellent finishing touch to the great work and commitment that Microsoft has put in to relaunch one of the most iconic sagas in memory.
-
Oct 15, 2020The game offers tons of different things to do while also bringing 4k resolution and a very well made soundtrack. While it may not be one of the best games in the series, this game is still a big win to me with the addition of 2 more civilizations and more game modes.
-
Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is capable of offering the same old experience in a new format. Everything that fans have been waiting for and also everything that new players need to enjoy this must-have franchise. It works perfectly and comes with graphics adapted to the new times making this game the best way to enjoy a renewed game that's still offering a kind of a retro experience.
-
Oct 16, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a fantastic remastered game that's greatly enhanced in terms of graphics, UI, and gameplay.
-
Oct 14, 2020An undeniable and great improvement on the original. Featuring a huge amount of content, including some brand-new game modes, as well as a revamped and improved portion of the original campaign, there's a lot on offer. The AI is improved, though does have a few niggles here and there. Particularly so with pathfinding. This issue is overwhelmed by the amount of content on offer, great improvements to the aesthetics of the game, improvements to multiplayer as well as changes to the home city system outside of the campaign. While not as outright fantastic as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, this is still a brilliant release and comes in at a very low price.
-
Oct 14, 2020This is a generous re-proposal, in which functional filings intersect in the management of playful mechanics and an important aesthetic modernization.
-
Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a great remake, packing in loads of new content and addressing some issues that other developers might simply have swept under the rug.
-
Oct 31, 2020Age of Empires 3 is still flawed, but Forgotten Empires and Tantalus Media have delivered an excellent remaster that improves the game in almost every way.
-
Oct 20, 2020No matter how you felt about undoubtedly polarizing Age of Empires 3 before, the dev teams at Tantalus Media and Forgotten Empires gave us a chance to relive nostalgic days that already long gone. Now this classic game feels a lot more expansive, prettier and acceptable.
-
Oct 20, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is just what we want when we talk about "definitive edition": new graphics but classic style; technical upgrade and all the content to date (and new games mode).
-
Oct 16, 2020Completing the updated trilogy, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition breathes new life into the franchise with the impending fourth instalment on the horizon. Fans of the original are sure to love the tweaks to the gameplay and graphics as well as the addition of two new civilizations, while new players will be able to dive right in to learn the mechanics of the game as well as jumping into the historic battle story mode. Now, all that’s left is an Age of Mythology revamp.
-
Oct 15, 2020It’s not a Final Fantasy 7 style remake, but the Definitive Edition comes closer to a remake than a simple remaster can, and that goes a long way to making the game enjoyable for the modern gaming audience.
-
Oct 15, 2020Age Of Empires 3: Definitive Edition is still a solid game. Its single-player content will last you over a dozen hours, and its multiplayer matches will last you several dozen more. While there is no longer that drive to farm XP for updates your Home City, the game itself is good enough that you'll be coming back for rematches time after time.
-
Oct 15, 2020Age of Empires III Definitive Edition is a lovingly reworked classic of the RTS genre that modernises in all the right ways. It also serves as the perfect way to prepare for next year's long awaited Age of Empires IV.
-
Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a great remaster of the most controversial AoE. It still looks fantastic 15 years later thanks to new textures and visual effects. Despite the lack of new campaigns, the game adds new civilizations and new modes for the enjoyment of the fans.
-
Oct 14, 2020This is a great remaster that carefully updates a classic title to give us a new chance to discover it.
-
Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a fantastic job of remastering and enhancing the original. Graphics, historical representation, gameplay ... Only some problems in the AI take us back to ancient times.
-
Oct 14, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition completes the classic real-time strategy franchise's set of classy remasters and does just enough to modernize gameplay as well as visuals, creating an enriching experience that appeals to returning fans or first-timers.
-
Oct 14, 2020A visually appealing package with AI flaws, which more than other parts of the series is a matter of taste.
-
CD-ActionFeb 8, 2021The developers did a great job at ironing out imperfections of the original game and expanding it without messing with its core. There are some visual shortcomings and performance issues, and the AI needs more work, but I longed for a good strategy game and Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition filled that void for me. [13/2020, p.50]
-
Nov 2, 2020Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition captures what makes the original game great, however, it also constantly reminds us that it isn't as great as its older brother. All the upgrades can't hide that the game is outdated, but it's still extremely addictive and fun to play.
-
Oct 26, 2020This particular journey simply didn’t hold the appeal for me that it once might have. If you’ve got fond memories of this series, then the Definitive Edition of AoE 3 will hook you good. This new model looks and sounds great, there’s a ton of new battlefields to conquer, and new ways to do that conquering.
-
Oct 14, 2020Microsoft has finally brought Age of Empires 3 out of the dark ages and fans are able to return to the game that they know and love. There’s a lot of quality of life changes to be found with the Definitive Edition, but at the same time there’s essentially the same amount of content to be experienced. Returning players may find that they’re effectively paying for a 15 year old game, but are now able to view it in 4K.
-
Oct 14, 2020It is indeed a very good strategy game, rich, complete and immersive but it clearly does not have the aura of its ancestors due to a main campaign that does not hold in suspense, a gameplay who suffers from pathfinding concerns and a somewhat aging AI.
-
Oct 14, 2020Not the best in the series but still fun and engaging, that comes with a few new gameplay modes, two civilizations and restored graphics.

Oct 17, 2020Worse than the original game, 15 years later. Is this what they meant by it would be epic?
