I have played CK2 since it came out and this is the only one that didn't make that much sence but I find it fun. when the Aztecs invade you attack back, depending on who you play as and if you don't get destroyed straight away or not, it is a lot of fun and everyone who has CK2 should get this and give it a go.
As an alt-history piece, the Sunset Invasion is a pretty interesting concept, and as a gameplay mechanic it serves to shake up complacent western Europe. I don't know if I would have it enabled every game, but it's worth a look.
Warning, incoming rant! The short review is, this is garbage. Ok, rant beginning now. So, I had been playing my first game as Count of Dublin to learn the mechanics and strategy behind CKII. After almost 200 years of building to become King of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales with 67% out of 80% to create the Emperor of Britannia title, the RIDICULOUS AND UNHISTORICAL "sunset invasion" begins and the Aztecs land about 110,000 troops in Scotland. This whole DLC feels like a big "F you" by the developers if you're playing in the west. I had read many guides saying Ireland is the newbie culture that makes for an easy first game, which is no longer true if you get this DLC. So, after putting 30 or more hours into this one game as Ireland, I can either restart totally with the DLC disabled (which i recommend that anyone who made the mistake of buying it does) or I can get all my hard-earned land taken by a huge Aztec invasion of the isles in 1254. If you like realism, this is a far cry from that. Even on very easy, if the Aztecs target you first, you're dead unless you have like 50 allies who accept your call to war and at least 20k troops of your own.
