Inside the secluded borders of this land, an unholy court of vampires feast on the blood of their human subjects. And, as long as they give it willingly, a vicious peace between mortal and immortal is kept alive under the watchful eye of the vampiric rulers -- Vlad and Cecilia Dracul, forever bound by eternal love.

To the east, a cold wind blows over the desolate planes of Mourterra -- The Land of the Dead. No humans live on this barren and cursed soil, and yet the land is far from deserted. Horrifying remnants of the ancient and corrupt Nosfernus bloodline stalk here in silence, patiently waiting for their chance to once again plague the lands of the living.

Meanwhile, in Esain -- The Frozen North, another bloodline of vampires resides in solitude and isolation from the world. For the mystical clan of the Moroia, magic is blood, and blood is magic... and it runs thick in their cold, blue veins. No being -- living or dead -- dares interrupt their dark rituals and bloody soirees.

Tonight, the smell of blood is strong on the wind, and a red moon lights up the dark sky. A new vampire war is imminent, and none will be spared from the coming horrors.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is an engaging strategy game set in a dark vampire world in turmoil, that combines empire management and turn-based combat with unique card-game elements. Descend into a mythical world filled with horrors and legends -- and hurl yourself into a compelling gothic epos paired with a challenging game experience.

I’ve been enjoying the game a lot… more than I was expecting to in fact… which is not to say that I thought I wouldn’t like it… just that I’ve been going back to it, time and time again… normally I’d go from one game to another… but I’ve just been sinking hours into this and can see myself putting quite a few more into it. A fun game with a lovely dark/gothic setting. I would be happy to recommend.

A valid entry in the genre of turn based strategy games. It offers some unique gameplay features but in some areas it suffers from oversimplification.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is a fun, atmospheric strategy game with enough depth and originality to satisfy most. While the lack of multiplayer options may turn some off, there’s enough content and enough replayability here to make the game well worth the purchase price.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is a dark and bloody turn based strategy that hits the mark with lore, artwork, story, and music. The battles can use some work with not only making maps a bit bigger to give more strategic choices, but also the difficulty that ramps up significantly. The addition of cards in battle is quite fun, but lackluster on the map. But if you’re a fan of vampires, I think you’ll enjoy IR.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is a good strategy game with very limited ambitions. It could suit strategy newbies or players not willing to invest much in a strategy experience. For sophisticated strategy players the market has many more interesting propositions.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is not a bad game. It is, however, a game that missed its chance at greatness. I’m not smart enough to say what could have been different to really knock the experience out of the park, but the demerits listed above may provide a good starting point. Even so, it’s very much worth a try if you like marching armies of undead across the landscape, or if you really want yet another strategy game. I would be inclined to buy it, even if for its thematic elements, and I would very much like to see where the developers go in the future with this IP, but for the product in front of me, it’s an ok game.

There are no apparent bugs and all gameplay mechanics are very transparent. The reason for that is not the brilliance of the developers though, but rather the (let’s say) modesty of each and every element of the game. Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is as plain and sad as a crypt of some lowly countryside vampire. [12/2020, p.48]

The differences between the three factions are interesting and significant enough that you need to adjust your play for each faction but not relearn how to play. The AI is not very intelligent but at least in the campaign you are often out numbered enough to make up for this.

The summarise a fun game that is easy to access not mired in complex mechanics.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars, the RANT review:

Having played the beta for over 20 hours (i had to push myself tbh) it already was clear that this game would fall short.
The concept is nice tho, i won't deny it, but the execution is very poorly done to say the least! (they basically left the beta running for over 6 months while changing little to nothing, how or why one does that goes beyond my comprehension?)

This game tries so hard but delivers little, making it look, act and feel underqualified & unpolished in pretty much all aspects. (confirmed: missing card mechanics, disappearing units, corrupted save/load files, etc..)
It has choppy/glitchy motion & user interfaces, little to no real strategic values, bland and boring maps, not to mention the severe lack of diversity for 'terrain & cover systems' and whatnot (which does practically nothing for archer/ranged types).

Unit types that are not offering much, except some basic stats like buffs & boons even on highest tier and leveling them up should also have been made more transparent.
Terrible story, bad acting, uninspiring voices (grunting and moaning basically) low quality FMV, mindless plot,.. Boring!! (Ooh, i would almost forget to mention about the awkward camera movement or functionality.. It's as if you're always mistaking left from right by the simplest of actions!)

The battle maps pretty much all look the same really, they're way too small, feel overly cramped, are full of stupid choke points to get bogged into, and offer practically zero contribution to the trategic value of the game (in other words, potential wasted)..
It's also worth mentioning that whenever an enemy lord plays a card, you need to focus in quickly or miss it, leaving you wondering what he/she actually played?!

The soundtrack (strong point) and overall visuals aren't bad, i'll give them that. But as the game stands now, there's plenty of patching and polishing up to do in order to make things look, feel and behave like it should because my impression is that at some time during the development they ran out of steam (or didn't even care to read our comments) and decided to just leave it at that.

This concludes my rant for now but no doubt i'll be back after delving longer into this abyss of boredom and bugginess..
    Personal verdict: 6'5/10 (generously overrated)
Not recommended for the current asking price!!
Ps: Launch day was horrible (missing dlcs etc)!!

The card system is useless most cards in this game are unimpressive, and they are not needed. The difficulty becomes overbearing near half of the campaign the enemy AI clearly cheats and always knows your position and how many units you have in the map Expand
