  1. LEGO The Hobbit is a game made specifically for LEGO fans. It would be better if Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros to wait for the last movie instead of rushing this one with a part of it's story missing. There's nothing unexpected about this journey, and that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

LEGO The Hobbit is a well-made game that doesn't break any new ground. Interesting story, atmosphere of the movie and a large world coexist with old gameplay solutions and well known issues. Middle-earth made of bricks has great potential, but the developers apparently don't want to take advantage of it all (yet). Fans of the series and Tolkien worshipers will definitely have fun for many hours, but they won't be amazed.

A really great Lego game, surprisingly fresh for a company famous for releasing the same product over and over again. [06/2014, p.56]

At this point, criticising a Lego game for being much like the other Lego games feels somewhat pointless. It's tempting, especially after so many, but it's a series that's long been more comfortable changing the wallpaper than rebuilding the entire house, and that's not likely to change any time soon.

LEGO The Hobbit has plenty of charm and plenty of content, but it's hard not to feel like the series is lacking some of the verve that it once had.

Very good concept, fun to make it to 100%. It is sad, however, that the story in the game is incomplete.

I know that this isn't an official sequel to LEGO Lord of the Rings but I think it is fair to treat this game as such. And when compared toI know that this isn't an official sequel to LEGO Lord of the Rings but I think it is fair to treat this game as such. And when compared to LEGO LOTR, LEGO Hobbit feels just a little worse.
Few new mechanics were added. Super simple puzzles for building object seems like a good addition. While quick-time events may be nothing new in gaming and are not considered a great thing, these few scenes (especially dancing dwarves in Bilbo's house) using QTE are super fun. Characters also now have little circles underneath to indicate which player is controlling which character. Apart from that - nothing has changed. We still have this open world filled with fetch quests and collectibles that are so fun to explore. Little breadcrumbs bricks are leading us from one story level to another and it is a great thing to re-visit these lands of bricked Middle-earth once again.
One thing that I hate is a decision to make the game out of just two films from the trilogy. They could have waited that one year or release it as a DLC. -1 to the total score for that.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun playing this game. Finishing it 100% feels just great and rewarding. There is something pleasing and relaxing to play it with my wife after a hard day at work.

    Lego games going downhill.....
Ever since the Lego games had actual dialog, the comedy took an enormous hit. Now you need to stick to what the movie did, and try to deliver the same moments the movie tried because the dialog has already been written and delivered, so you can't go for another approach, only with tiny little small jokes between actual movie moments, most of them don't work.
The gameplay is what all the others game have done before, but now you have a crafting system that could be fun, but worn out their welcome. At least the riddles are fun to play, as they should.
THE STORY IS UNFINISHED, WB THOUGHT TO DELIVER A DLC WITH THE LAST MOVIE LATER AND CANCELLED IT AFTER THE TRILOGY WAS NOT THAT WELL RECEIVED.
The end game is a MILLION chores throughout Middle Earth and most of them are boring and the ones that aren't are stopped for grinding materials.
