    It was fine and its an eye candy I love how it looks but the game on its own has not much to give. Story is weak and combat as well and side activities suck. Its really all about the cars, desert, and locations which are perfectly done.

    I have no idea where all these 80, 90 and 100 percent ratings are coming from. The game is fun for a couple hours but it is by no means "game of the year". The missions are incredibly grindy and repetitive. The combat is as easy as "block, then strike", the bosses are cookie cutter and the world is bland. The driving sucks. Just not feeling it.

No you can't take melee weapons with you in the car. I am frequently levelling up apparently but I can't see that is making much difference to anything. And finally, the premise of the game makes no sense, apparently Max wants to find peace but also have a V8 muscle car, whilst apparently living on an oil rich sea bed complete with roads and a surprisingly high population density. I have heard this compared to Skyrim. It really isn't anything like that at all. More like a rehearsal of Far Cry, it even has towers to climb (sorry baloons to fly up in), Ubisoft style. Ultimately a bit flat and a bit dull. Expand

    As others have already mentioned, this is one of those grindy, repetitive open world games. This is basically just a jack of all trades, master of none type of game. They just put together gameplay from GTA, Assassin's Creed, Batman, and Farcry, but it doesn't do anything necessarily extraordinary. I would say the only thing I commend them on is the car battles.

    Don't even get me started on the poor optimization of the PC port. Seems like they only tested the game on a few different hardware configurations. I have a clean install of Windows 10, all drivers upated and latest BIOS firmware, but the game crashes randomly. I've installed 4 different versions of the Nvidia drivers and even lowered my settings to normal, but the crashes still occur. I know my video card (GTX570) can handle this on high settings because it runs smoothly on high up to the time it crashes. I can run MGS V on high with no problem. I think I've just come to the conclusion that WB Games doesn't have a good QA team for their PC ports. I mean look at the debacle with Arkham Knight. They had to take the game off the Steam store and push it back due to the technical problems.

    (Update 9/29/15) - The latest patch has resolved the random crashing I was experiencing so I've bumped my score up from a 6 to a 7.

    The short version is that the story starts off promising and then ends in a cloud of stupidity. There's plenty of cut-scene incompetence, and a story that in addition to not being there, is propped up only by the time spent roaming around - otherwise, it'd be a very short game indeed. It gets repetitive quickly and there's no replay value.

    Not worth 60 bucks.

    The worthless 'Intel' missions (did sneaking in EVER work in a camp?), Minefields, tedious same old same old, over and over and over. No story to speak of. That annoying Griffa and his blathering. Literally copy and paste boss fights (I mean literally -- same models, same strategy, same death scene, etc)

There are good customizations too and honestly, the game worth the try. But to give you a good example, i've finished 55% of the global progression in about 65 hours, too damn long when you want to do everything on the map...

I would compare the general game elements and open world to an Assassin's Creed title. The way the protagonist moves and behaves between bright yellow scripted elements like ladders and ledges left a bad taste in my mouth. The constant "press E to interact" is downright obnoxious and about as far from my expectations of gameplay could possibly be. Press E to kick down gate, press E rapidly to open chest, hold E to loot contents of chest... you get the idea.

    As far as hand to hand combat goes, it's a direct replica from the recent Batman games. Light attack, Heavy attack, Counter attack when enemy glows. There's a skill system for gaining a few special abilities, but they really add next to nothing to what I would consider a bland and shallow system. The combat is so extremely boring immersion is directly effected, and as a result I feel like I'm not actually playing a video game at all.

    If you aren't concerned yet, surely this next bit will raise some red flags. The worst thing about the Mad Max game by a long shot is the driving. It is a completely vanilla, bare-bones arcade driving experience. Vehicular physics should have been the main focus of the game, instead it's just another card in a deck of clones. I'm not looking for a racing simulator with tire pressure and a realistic suspension deformation system, but when I was told there was going to be a game based on a series renowned for its vehicular combat, I expected more than the driving physics tech demo for the Havoc physics engine. If you have played the recently released Metal Gear Solid V, you know the driving physics in that game aren't particularly impressive. The sad thing is, they are better than what is available in Mad Max.

    Enemy AI makes the bad driving physics laughable, of course when you're speeding along and playing "how the game is meant to be played" the illusion of decent gameplay is there. Anything outside of this is just not fleshed out. If you slow down to a near stop the enemy AI gets extremely confused, and starts to bump into you slowly over and over again which I can only compare to the way a puppy tries to entice its siblings into a playfight.

    The vehicle upgrade system is pretty darn cool though, and I was happy to see how each level of upgrade actually changed the look of the car. Actually, while we're talking about visuals, I should say the majority of the game's visuals are quite impressive. I am absolutely blown away by how incredible the wasteland looks, I have no doubt the majority of time was spent setting the scene and making sure the game had that "dead" post apocalyptic feel. Even though the game takes place in a desert, the developers did a good job giving each area its own personality to stand out from the previous one. Unfortunately this just makes the game that much more disappointing, like we're given a sneak peek of incredible places we will never feel like we're part of.

    All-in-all you're going to be stuck looking at a beautiful game through a glass window, because no matter how hard you try you just can't connect with any of the gameplay, no fun allowed. Press E to eat, press E to drink, press E to refill gasoline... press E to climb ladder... press E to immerse yourself into wasteland... if only. The overwhelmingly positive reviews for this title absolutely blow my mind, I don't see how anyone could be entertained by this game for more than an afternoon.

You have your standard light attack, heavy attack, parry and dodge, but on top of that you also have brutal knife finishers which you can perform while carrying knives which are found throughout the game, there are many different kill animations depending on the angle you attack from and they're all very satisfying to pull off and watch. As well as knife finishers you also have Fury kills which are equally visceral and are performed on weak enemies while in Fury mode which is activated once you fill your Fury meter. The combat is definitely the best thing about the game, it's very fluid and just done well, as you upgrade Max you unlock more skills that allow you to pull off even more devastating moves.

    As is the trend these days in open world games there are icons all over the map with optional content that add nothing to the game, and even hurts the overall experience I'd argue as tedium does start to set in after awhile, at least it did for me. I would like to see most, if not all of the pointless scrap locations removed if they ever make a sequel, and I would urge the devs to avoid reusing the territory system which is extremely boring, you are basically doing the exact same checklist of objectives over and over just in different zones, it got boring about half way through. Now in stark contrast the side quests and especially the main story are both fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed them, had the game had more content like that instead of the filler fluff it would have gone from being merely good to great. Another area where the devs really shot themselves in the foot was the Top Dogs who acted as bosses throughout the game, after you kill the first one you're thinking “wow, that was cool” but later you come to realize every Top Dog is exactly the same, just with a different name and a palette swap. If Avalanche make a sequel I would like to see unique bosses instead of the same one recycled 20 times.

    Other than the pointless fluff content, the biggest issue with the game is the car handling, it's really, really bad. I can't stress enough just how much the car handling hurt my overall experience. Even a fully upgraded Magnum Opus (your car) will spin out of control for seemingly no reason, and God forbid you clip a bucket or something equally insignificant while moving at speed, this will send you into an uncontrollable tailspin. And that's the Magnum Opus, other vehicles you're forced to drive for quests and races handle much worse.

    Now the game does do a lot right as well, the cut-scenes are fantastic, helped massively by some top quality voice work. The game also looks stunning, and it runs almost perfectly on PC, I say almost because there is an issue where you will micro freeze for a split second infrequently, I have confirmed this with at least 20 other people who all have the same problem. Other than that blip the game runs at 60fps on max settings without issue, and you don't need a GTX 980 to pull it off, it's extremely well optimised for a wide range of configurations.

    In closing I will say I enjoyed the game and I definitely recommend it, maybe not at full price but if it's ever on sale I would snap it up for sure. Just don't get sucked into the fluff content as it will fatigue you by the time you get to the end of the game.

    This game is such a lost potential. It has many good things going for it but in all aspects seems like it could have been so much more.

    The game puts you in a post-apocalyptic world very well known from Mad Max series. I do must say that I enjoyed the original movie more then the new one so I'm not so thrilled by the environment. What's outstanding is the fact that it's very similar all across the board. It makes sense giving the setting but seeing the constant desert like background is a bit dull. Though given the setting of the game it is to be expected and this is not a genuine critique.

    You start our by driving and encountering a gang of cars that take away your car. You then meet a repair guy who helps you with rebuilding a brand new car in a quest to put a V8 in it.

    So the game introduces pretty cool mechanics at start - your fuel is limited and you must refill it from time to time to keep going. The ammo is really scarce - you count every shot - especially when it comes to the sniper rifle. Water put in a canteen is used to replenish your health. And at first the game is quite challenging but things change when you reach the first stronghold. All you need to do is finish some projects that on each stronghold visit will replenish your ammo, fuel and health. Combine that with quick travel and I have never needed any additional fuel or felt a need to look for ammo.

    Apart from main missions which progress the story pretty far you have a number of things to do. Either upgrade strongholds by acquiring different parts, lower terror level by destroying scarecrows or fighting different camps. You need to collect scrap along the way to purchase different upgrades to your car. There is a ton to do, but it all seems either repetitive or just gets boring pretty fast.

    Starting with the small camp locations. It's cool that each of them and there are quite a few is looking different. But in each you do the same damn thing. You drive up, a bunch of people come out screaming - you fight them off and collect some loot, move on. In every each one of it.

    The bigger camps - this looked so promising. Each one has a scout sitting somewhere near giving tips like 'there is a secret way on the right'. And you think - cool I can approach this in different way. Wrong. There is no stealth in this game. If you manage to pass external defences and somehow get in unnoticed you enter same area as you would enter gun blazing. Even worse when the enemies come out as they would normally the external defences start firing inside which is quite frustrating. So the only way to approach bigger camps is to:
    - drive around destroying external towers
    - snipe what you can
    - enter gun blazing
    - kill a number of waves of enemies
    - complete objective (i.e. destroy fuel barrels etc)
    - go to next camp

    And bosses are so easy it's just boring fighting them.

    The strongest part of the game is car combat. And that indeed is fun. Taking out enemy convoy is challenging and fun. You can harpoon a door out and pull the driver. You can pull out tires. You can ram the other car or throw an exploding spear at them. Although final car driving bosses do feel a bit easy in my opinion.

    In summary - this is a quite bland game that misses the potential it could have achieved. The story is not compelling to play - at one point of the game I just decided to rush through it to have it completed. Not really interested in getting all upgrades or defeating all camps. Fun for an hour or four but outstays it's welcome.

    Level design is VERY impressive... truly showcases the extreme uniqueness of Mad Max's setting. I've never known what a post apocalyptic earth without any oceans would look like, but now I do. To see submarines, ships, and oil dredgers sit on top of sand dunes and serve as the last remnants of humanity is a truly memorable takeaway from this game. 10/10

    Sound is perfect. Everything sounds the way you'd expect it to. 10/10

    Story is actually what holds the game back the most. Character development seems shallow, the actual plot seems pointless, it is always unclear why people are driven to do what they do. There's not a lot of great dialogue, everything is always to the point and direct.. 1/10

    While the design, gameplay, and sound are all impressive enough to rival most GOTY material, the story that should hold everything together and make the experience memorable and interesting simply isn't there...

    Mad Max is probably the single most, 'I'll just do one more mission - still playing many hours later' games ever. Time vanishes. What you thought was maybe forty-five minutes, was four hours. I think part of the reasoning behind this is because it's repetitive in every way. I am surprised it doesn't get more criticism for this. Everywhere just about looks the same. I am surprised it doesn't get more criticism for this. Everywhere just about looks the same. The camps which you clear are all similar. Scavenging destinations are all similar.

    The really only parts that are not all similar are the main missions. However there are not many of those.

    Mad Max has other issues too. The engine-exhaust noise of the car is diabolical. I wear headphones and it screams albeit mid pitched (not high pitched) almost all the way through. I play on speakers too and it's as bad. Only later when you get the V8 engine is car noise acceptable.

    It is unfortunately nothing more than a long grind, and is possibly the grinder of all grinders. Salvage scrap, unlock upgrades, use scrap as currency to upgrade. From start to finish that is all you do.

    It has plus points. It often looks good. Bosses are all the same technique: wait for charge, dodge, attack for a bit; repeat. In other words there is no googling every boss encounter because you can't work out what to do. Gameplay is straight-forward. In fact all the gameplay is relatively easy. It's filled out by there simply being masses of it.

    Although I mark it 7/10 I could not in all honesty say to a friend, "You must buy Mad Max". Meaning no recommendation. However if you are fully aware of its format, you will have fun maybe half the time playing it.

    Mad Max is all about insane characters, furious car chases and a chaotic post-apocalyptic world that all promise something memorable. Clearly it failed to deliver.

    A decent main story with solid gameplay and great optimisation, but it falls prey to the whole 'ticking off a checklist' feel when it comes to a lot of the side content. Sure, this adds more hours to the experience, but there are more interesting ways to fill up a game than what Mad Max offers.

    Mad Max, in some ways, is possibly a pioneering game in the open-world genre, but otherwise falls flat on it's ass. First of all, I have to commend the visual aspect of the game - it's by far the most appealing I've seen so far. Most satisfying hand-to-hand combat I've experienced in a game, great graphics and animations. Loved the vehicle motion and combat and customization options, the level design (the world is massive - lots of different areas to see), random events interrupting your business, such as storms and bandit patrols (although I wish some of them had stopped doing that after getting beat up so many times).

    While the game featured several fleshed out characters and well written scripts and dialogue,it looks like Avalanche Studios figured they don't need all that and decided to not utilize their writers' skills further than the bare minimum. This company doesn't seem to appreciate a solid, prevalent story in an open world game. There's a whole lot to do here, but there is a serious lack of that driving force that should keep you motivated to explore every nook and cranny of this amazing world.

    The main story in this game revolves entirely around Max wanting his stolen V8 engine back and he will cast aside all his emotions and any interest for some sidetracking (there is a SERIOUS lack of storied side missions) to make that happen. Consequently we now have this grumpy Max who yaps at everybody for no reason and is simply an obnoxious character.
    The world is absolutely massive, but there are unfortunately a limited number of activities: destroy stuff, beat up raiders, listen to some NPC's boring one paragraph intel, destroy convoys, fight patrol cars, race through the wasteland etc. That's what you're expected to engage in over and over, but besides yielding you more upgrades for your car doing all that doesn't have a point. Think about how that plays out: you spend hours upon hours doing chores to earn a new exhaust for your car... It's Just Cause all over again - a vast world with no draw.

    The only reason I figured a 7 instead of a 6 or 5 is because the little story it had showed potential and was executed well enough (not decently though - transitions in the story were not seamless and needed work), and the visual aesthetics were impressive. This was almost the perfect Mad Max game, but unfortunately it focused too much on the Hollywood definition of the "Mad" part and neglected the necessary attention to the other. Remember the first Mad Max movie? Strong story that makes you root for Max all the way through. This game simply doesn't capture that effect.

    - Some comment that story is boring, but i'd say it fits nicely in post-war setting (not that you can expect some complicated story when all you need first is to survive), look at the movies.

    Cons:
    - My major issue is that game is extremely easy. If you didnt started to play games yesterday, theres no challenge here, contrary to the fact that this is post-apocalyptic world, where survival should be hard.
    - My second largest issue, is that game apparently, is targeted at younger audience - tons of car customizations, collecting different cars, boring side missions, meaningless tasks to reduce threat in region, lots of scaveging locations just so you can fight more. This should have made world not feel empty, but there are more effective ways to do that (Fallout 2?).
    - Car physics. Although it is fun to chase convoys, it feels so unnatural that you cannot destroy your car entirely, flip on roof or die while crashing in full speed into a wall or something. This would make chases more intense and challenging.
    - Self-guided missiles? Lots of them? In the desert?

    That being said, the game is ok, i had fun with it.
    My advice if you are not casual gamer - skip side missions, dont bother with stronghold projects (except where it is required to keep on), just keep with main mission. The game will be a little more challenging this way.

Mad Max doesn't take may risks and excels on most aspects. There are two forms of combat: Driving and Fighting. Driving is where this game thrives. The mechanics are solid and easy to get used to. You can kill other divers and destroy enemy cars many ways. You can ram into them dealing more damage depending on the car parts you have, you can use a harpoon and tear off a piece of a car or pull the driver out of the car. You can use the slingshot to instantly kill enemy's and take out fuel tanks/tires but it has very little ammo so it's not recommended. There is a sniper for taking out opponents from a distance, and the thunderpoon which is a explosive harpoon. Well driving you have the help from a hunchback named Chumbuket which easily is the best character in the game. He fires the harpoon and fixes the "magnum opus" which is your car. He loves that car more than anything and you can't help but share the enthusiasum as you dive across the open desert. Fighting is pretty dull. I consists of a lot of button mashing but when you deal enough damage to fill up max's rage meter, Max does a lot more damage. You need to be on foot to take out Scrotus camps and other outposts. The camps have you fighting a bunch of enemy and either destroying feul tanks or destroying something else. In some special camps there is a forgetable boss fight that is always the same. The story is very hit and miss. Compared to the movie it's not as good but it isn't bad either. What makes the story not as good as it should be is Max. I have never seen a charecter in a game that was this stuborn. He very selfish and does all of this just to get his car back!!! His back story is very vague and I found myself caring about Chumbuket more than Max. The other characters are forgettable as well. Scrotus, the main antagonist, appears in the intro cutscence and you don't see him again till near the end. Most characters have no development or personality what so ever. It's not so bad considering the location of the game but it wouldn't of hurt. You have the ability to customize your car to your preference, you cant have a fast weak car, a strong slow car, or a little of both. There was a ton of options to choose from and really added to the gameplay. You can also upgrade your fighting abilitys but those didn't really add much. The problem is fiding the scrap metal to upgrade. Very few things reward enough metal and it can become repetitive searching for scrap all across the giant map. The port is great!!! I was worried after the port failure of Batman: Arkham Knight but this is one of the best PC ports of all time. Tons of customization settings and a FPS that never went below 60 and sometimes went in the 100's sets the far beyond any other PC port of this year. Overall it's a enjoyable experience. Is it great, no, but I still thing this game is worth a look for those interested. It represents the Mad Max universe well and fans of the arkham series should fine this game enjoyable as well. Cons:
    -Somewhat repetitive

    -Is a run-of-the-mill open world game

    I bought Mad Max on steam right after watching Fury Road a few weeks ago. It was a far more impressive and fun game than I expected. I anticipated a bad, poorly written clone of the movie. Luckily this was not the case: it evokes the feeling of the film while being its own thing.

    The game was fun, especially with the car combat. The combat on foot was typical 'batman' combat, and it worked at least, even if it wasn't as fun as the car combat. The car upgrades were introduced slowly but consistently. The game has a definite polish and I don't think I encountered any bugs in my time playing.

    In most aspects, Mad Max is a very typical open world game: you drive around, reduce enemy influence, and take over areas. This was fine. Nothing special, but better than you'd expect from a movie-related game.

    The only complaint I have is that Mad Max did not hold my interest for long. I primarily started playing after watching Fury Road and I quickly lost interest. I will probably return eventually to finish the game, but it won't be any time soon.

    Long anticipated Mad Max for more then 2 years has finally seen light of the sky with really high hopes of something unique and very good quality developed by already well known Just Cause developer team, Avalanche Studios.

    You play as disgruntled Max as “lone wolf” with his double-barreled shotgun through endless sand dunes in apocalyptic atmosphere set somewhere in future, yet without remaining technology other then vehicles and scrap to present main value in this world. Third person action game where you fight for surviving until very last breath, without place for love and kindness left only with memories and not promising future with only one remaining quests; to find the “Plains of Silence”, a fabled land where he might find solace from his madness.

    Weeks before official release developers has made couple announcements both written and during podcasts about interesting and not much seen auto-generated map with endless driving and much more unique experiance of free roaming. Endless nothing is not so endless after all. First thing which majority of players tried is exploring beyond map limits where on most sides you would hit invisible wall or start loosing health very fast for no reason whatsoever while in only couple directions you could drive for more then couple minutes without any single camp or in fact, any object.

    With that being said one of most unique features related to exploring for this year felt in water and we are left only with remaining action based side of Mad Max. Vehicles are matter of life and death where Max on very begining of this a bit more simplistic story; is left without vehicle, the Interceptor, having a goal to build his ultimate car, called the Magnum Opus. He is seeking a revenge and his car, but nothing more which lower importance and stakes of his goal from perspective of a regular player.

    Most of the time action and fighting is based on vehicles fight so upgrading vehicle and extra features as armor or harpoon to tear out doors, wheels or even drivers themself will be handy and unavoidable if you want perfection yet again not so necessary since game will force you in particular missions to get required upgrades before you start them. Shotgun and sniper are only Max’s weapons which are available while driving, you can use shotgun for destroying other cars but for sniper use you need to switch positions with Chum and get into trunk. Male fighting system on the other side is based on Batman series, completely identical with known attack/counter/dodge mechanics where physics are more realistic then previosly mentioned series where personal Max upgrades once again come handy and helpful for quicker and safer resolving of fights. More health, armor, increased attack damage and couple more attributes you upgrade to a couple locations marked on map which represent mysterious man who will help you in achieving that.

    Despite very good fighting physics of Max and AI, it’s still a bit out of space. Impact with cars and tries from AI to run you over once when you are of car and you wait for Chum to complete repairment will often finish with laugh instead trying to escape and dodge vehicles. Despite high speed or perfect trajectory of cars Max’s body will often be pushed on a side without falling or having any moves which should indicate that he has just been run over by a car. Jumping is possible but it will be used only on places where you might get stuck by accident and it’s required to get out while most of the time you will use “use” button for starting animation where Max will climb alone which kills immersion for most of the gamers.

    Whole Wastelend is devided in couple territories where eventually you meet main guy, work along with them and get fortress as safe locations for your car. Whole point of those territories is to explore and do all things which would reduce threat on that same location. There are threat levels and by destroying camps, sniper towers or scarecrows where you might need some of high upgrades. Some cleared enemy camps will be replaced with your allies and you will be awarded through time with random amount of scrap, which you also get in every location by exploring. You use scrap for Magnum Opus upgrades or for things in previosly mentioned fortress which gives you random features and perks, like refilling your ammo belt and others. You are also able to fast travel without any cost between fortress locations including some other explored points on map which will reduce length of this adventure by a lot if you decide most of the time to use this feature.

    One more side of this adventure with really huge potential is not fulfilled with surviving mechanics.

    Mad Max is one solid and very mediocre game but probably biggest victim of unused potential this and probably even couple years back. Great optimization and idea but yet no story, much repetetive goals and things to do without space for immersion or getting a bit more into game.

    ++ Optimization is stunning. One of the best optimized games of the past year or two.

    + Graphics are great. Light, dust, haze is a great icing on a highly detailed cake. Clouds look a little low-res at times, but the skybox looks fantastic in general (if you like sunsets / sunrises, there are some great screenshot opportunities).
    + Punchy sound design. Explosions have great impact.
    + Great story - gritty and grim - but it’s short. Do yourself a favor and complete the Wasteland side-missions in addition to the main campaign. You’ll get to know the factions a bit better and the game feels more complete.
    + The wasteland is wonderfully detailed. Rocks, caves, forts, pumping stations, strongholds, outposts – even though it is a dusty wasteland, there is plenty of visual variety.
    + Customizing the car. From the body style, to the suspension, engine, armor, and more, you can really make the car you want to play the way you want.
    + All the unfinished missions and quests return after finishing the main story campaign so you can take your time, explore the wasteland, and 100% the game if you want.

    +/- The hand-to-hand combat is a riff on the Batman Arkham combat system with fancy finishers but without gadgets. It works well enough, but nothing outstanding about it. (If keyboard & mouse is your preference, be sure to have a 3-button mouse.)
    +/- The game is a grind for scrap, which is used for much-needed upgrades. If you hate grinding, walk away. If you enjoy exploration and looting, then Mad Max is an amazing experience.
    +/- Child slavery content warning. There isn’t much, but it is there.

    - Checkpoint saving only. Awkward in a sandbox game.
    - Driving mechanics are sub-par; floaty and imprecise, the smallest bump can send the car flying, leaving Max facing the wrong way in seconds as the enemy speeds off into the distance. Not good in a game that focuses so much on driving. The Gastown race almost made me rage-quit the game.
    - Enemies are endlessly re-used.
    - Grinding is required. Upgrades are sometimes hidden behind completely clearing a region of threats.
    - Glitchy menus. Hitting Escape to view a new log entry would frequently result in seeing the menu headings, but no images or text. Switching to another menu then switching back would usually fix the issue.
    - Messed up mission progression. Need to build the “Jack”, a special class of car referred to as an Archangel. Well, the next part of the mission wouldn’t trigger, no matter what I did. Checked online. As it happens, I had parts on the car that were a level HIGHER than what was required to progress. I had to un-equip all upgrades on the car, and re-equip only the upgrades the game told me to, and the rest of the mission triggered properly.
    - Some quests that were supposedly optional disappeared without warning because I chose to continue with the main story first. All the missions return for completion after finishing the main campaign, though, so there’s that.

    It was a challenge to bring Mad Max to an open world game, and Avalanche delivered an incredibly gritty, detailed world and a mature story. While the story itself is not open-ended, there is clearly a chance for sequels - with possible franchise potential. Fans of Mad Max and open-world explore-and-loot games should give it a try – especially since it now discounts during sales to $10 or less. There’s a lot of value here. Recommended.

    Añadir que cuenta con ciclo día y noche, es bonito y esta chulo, pero hay misiones que solo se pueden hacer por la noche y... ¿adivina que? NO se puede avanzar el tiempo de ninguna manera, y el ciclo no es corto que digamos (alrededor de una hora).

    Recomendación: No es un mal juego y se suele encontrar rebajado en un montón de lugares. En un principio iba a votar negativo por el, ya que acumula muchísimas cosas negativas más que positivas, pero sin duda también da muchas horas de diversión cuando ves cómo poco a poco mejora el coche, las batallas entre vehículos, los asaltos a las fortalezas... el juego sin duda es repetitivo, pero si no buscas hacerlo al 100%, te va a ofrecer muy buenos momentos.

    Great looking game with a fitting story for the universe. It does have some major flaws that, in order for the game to be enjoyed, one must either ignore or just accept. I will list some pros and cons here:

    Pros:
    + The story fits the universe quite nicely;
    + The characters might give you a weird feel at first, but they tend to come along nicely;
    + The ideia of the car progression as you progress with the story is interesting;
    + Some immersion in the game (historical relics), attention to detail and collectibles;
    + Beautiful world. Seriously, this is one of the top points in the game;
    + Hella fun to enter in the convoy fights;
    + Some strategy in the camp invasions (if you want to be strategic, that is);
    + Combat system is ~OK~.

    Cons:
    - In case you opt to do the side quests, the story takes to long to engage. Also, the repetition makes it nearly impossible for you to keep up on the side quests;
    - Even though the center characters turn out to be nicely done at some point, the game displays a lack of interesting characters, which leads me to the worst point of the game (imo):
    - There is no variety on bosses. Seriously, the "camp bosses" are all the same guy. Maybe he might have a different skin (a little bit of paint over the mask or something), but it is the same guy, with the same strategies;
    - Despite the car progression being nice, the handling is a serious problem. It took me a while to get used to the steering, since it is very common for you to lose control of the car and crash against some rocks. It sucks when you are in the middle of a car fight and you just stop because you lost the track and hit a rock;
    - The world might be beautifully made,but the lack of variety makes it feel somewhat dull and boring;
    - Regarding the convoys and car fights, refer to con 4;
    - In case you opt for not being strategic in a camp invasion, you can just go on, with your face exposed, and smash everything inside. This COULD be a pro, if the camp invasions weren't all so damn repetitive;
    - Combat system is ~OK~.

    For me, the whole problem lies in the repetitiveness. The lack of boss fights or variations is the most unacceptable part. I mean, come on, this is Mad Max! There is just so much to be done! So many character design ideas! It wouldn't cost an arm to think a little bit on terms of variety, especially on the side missions.

    To summarize, if you are into open world games, roaming around a wasteland with a badass car (using it to obliterate other cars) and smashing random and irrelevant faces with your fists, then this game is for you. If you are looking for some depth and content variation, I suggest you skip it. The game feels very like every Ubisoft game's style, with 4 or 5 types of missions that merely change a dime.

    Как игра по фильму, она отличная. Добавить бы сюда разнообразия в геймплее, населить локации чем нибудь интересным или просто архитектурным и ей бы не было цены. А так мы имеем всю туже гринделку, захват вышек, собирательство всего и вся. А ведь у игры не плохой потенциал, прокачка как у персонажа так и у его авто, весь обширная, открытый мир, фото-режим, красивая картинка, но вот просто захватывать вышки и ездить по пустому миру, надоедает да смысла в этом нет, про сюжет говорить не буду, он здесь такой же "стандартный" Но мне было приятно в нее играть, да и концовку не много удивила (момент с девушкой и ребенком) жаль их конечно.

    Сразу говорю мне понравилось.
    В общем и целом игра страдает тем же, чем страдали Тени Мордора год назад.
    Скучновато и однообразно, тут она остается жертвой генеральной линии Warner br. Если браться за нее слишком ретиво еще на второй локации можно откровенно заскучать. Вторичные квесты надоедают, громить базы тоже самое, управляемость автомобиля вообще катастрофа.. Боевка однообразная,

    Боевка однообразная, в оружии нет выбора, что впрочем легко объяснимо Апокалипсисом.
    На этом плохие впечатления заканчиваются, последняя глава резко ускоряет темп повествования, события захватывают и не дают оторваться. Конечно не "Анна Каренина, но история очень даже интересная. То как это выглядело навевает мысли, что линейным боевиков, навроде Spec Ops: The Line, ему бы пошло больше. Аваланч же предложила же песочницу с механикой Теней Мордора, что ни плохо, ни хорошо. Это данность, с ней можно или смириться, или пройти мимо.
    Выбор за вами, но лучше поиграйте в ускоренном темпе.

    Reminiscent of B-tier games of old, 'Mad Max' is better than it has any right in being. From compelling characters, satisfying driving and vehicular combat mechanics, through to a generally well executed and weighty brawling hand-to-hand combat system it is worth some time.

    Unfortunately, like most open-world games, it does overstay it's welcome. It's colour scheme is generally drab (though this can work in its favour during certain set pieces). It's infiltration missions are copied and pasted across the board. The AI is reminiscent of sentient potatoes. And there were missed opportunities for both base and colony management systems (the offering being extremely bare bones).
    All-in-all, try it out when it goes on sale.

    Если проходить в лоб тупа сюжет, то игра кажется неплохой: сюжет сойдет, караваны грабить можно, наличие прокачки, а также хорошая атмосфера пустынного постапокалиптического мира. НО если проходить доп квесты, зачищать вышки, захватывать лагеря и т.д. то игра становится дико скучной. Вообщем проходите только сюжет и тогда возможно не разочаруетесь.Если проходить в лоб тупа сюжет, то игра кажется неплохой: сюжет сойдет, караваны грабить можно, наличие прокачки, а также хорошая атмосфера пустынного постапокалиптического мира. I recommend it! It portrays very well the universe Mad Max from the movies.

    If we consider the game as an embroidery capture simulator, then 10/10.
    If as a full-fledged AAA project, then 6.
    Overall not bad, but I have to do it after two hours in a month. In general, here the post-apocalypse is felt better than tender in other games of this genre.

    It's solid game. Unfortunately, one-timer.

    Pros.: - Long-long time ago, around 20 years already, I had an idea of a video game when you can build a car, fix it, it would be post-apocalypse, but the setting would look like GTA and Fallout together. Well, something is out and it's Mad Max. Some ideas are done and released, but most - not. - There are memorable characters. - The game

    - There are memorable characters.
    - The game looks good and pleasant to play.
    - Scenery is just awesome.

    Cons.:
    - A VERY unconvincing story. Fast, full of loop holes, characters are gone quickly, not catharsis at all.
    - A very repetitive game. Becomes boring with the tasks and missions quite fast.
    - Scrap exploitation - you must literally destroy all enemy camps to make the game pleasant to play. Or grind scrap. It's boring and it makes the game more casual.
    - There are a lot of details of the world that could be filled in with info and interaction.

    A lot of potential. But gone for good.

Car combat is interesting but gets boring by the third quarter despite the game only lasting about 12 hours with some side quests done. My only real complaint is that the game forces you to play side content before accessing some of the final missions, not meaning that the game becomes too difficult to complete without upgrades, but that the game literally locks away the last missions and shows a checklist asking you to complete a certain number of side missions and camp projects at the climax of the game, destroying any pacing or tension. Shouldn't have been open world, the last thing I think of when I think Mad Max is long drives where nothing happens followed by looting a camp to grind for upgrades. Expand

    Is it a bad game? Absolutely not. On the contrary, Ubisoft's open-world template is perfect for churning out market-friendly games that tick all the boxes of "What People Want." Or, perhaps, "What You Want."...And honestly, Mad Max's formula is still to some extent "What I Want." Just not as much as a few years ago.

    Mad Max is this year’s equivalent of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – a really decent open world game that will not disappoint the fans of the franchise and will win over some undecided gamers, but will not be inducted into the industry’s hall of fame alongside Skyrim, GTA, Black Flag or The Witcher 3. Mad Max is a missed opportunity. The exceptional depiction of the Wasteland, the chaotic nature of the post-apocalyptic society, the excellent technical qualities and thrilling vehicle fights are held back by the mundane melee combat mechanics, the loose story, the repetitive nature of secondary objectives and the overall low-level challenge.
