While not being an indie games enthusiast myself, I do wholeheartedly recommend this game – both to fans of pixel art aesthetics, and to those who just want to shoot a lot of stuff in an old school FPS. [13/2018, p.68]

In the end though, perhaps what sets apart Project Warlock from the very recent old-school shooter renaissance we’ve been seeing is that outside of inspiration and certain elements it doesn’t look any one thing from the ‘90s. Which in the end makes it special, and something well worth checking out.

Project Warlock is a fast-paced, fun and challenging old-school FPS, with a hint of RPG mechanics.

Project Warlock proudly points to the forefront of the genre and provides players with a nostalgic ride full of weapons of mass destruction and crowds of various hell creatures and other monsters. [Issue#291]

There really isn’t too much to say about Project Warlock because it’s really quite a simple game. There aren’t a ton of bells or whistles, but runnin’ and gunnin’ both feel solid.

Project Warlock is a tastefully designed throwback to an era of classic shooters and teenage escapism, and as one would expect, shooting things in this game is so damn gratifying.

A charming, but monotonous shooter bar any noteworthy elements.

You could call it a remastered version of classics which is just perfect if you loved Doom, Hexen etc. but you already got used to smoother game-play served by modern games. This game is a huge dose of fun, great to unwind after a long day at work. Also it's very inspiring to see that the main developer is a young guy who prefers to make games rather than waste whole day on Netflix! God, I hope my kids will turn out like this too! Expand

    The only downsides are:
    - losing map awareness
    - lots of wall hugging for completionists
    - people not giving it enough credit

I think 8.5 stars is the fair score to give the game itself, while additional star for the developer's approach and attitude, and up to 10 stars to give them a kickstart. In this crazy world of gaming of late, Project Warlock presents an unique, fresh and unbiased joy of gameplay. Call this a bliss of ignorance, or call it a pure talent, but this game is clearly something to support, enjoy and promote. I had lots of fun playing it, actually finished on the Casual level, with 13h+ gameplay on the clock. You may find lots of reviews everywhere but I tell you one thing: it is as mature and as creative as it can be. Thank you BuckShot Software. Expand

A sensational boomer shooter. The spiritual heir to the classic Doom. With some additions like upgrading weapons.

"Project Warlock is a first person shooter that fans of Doom, Hexen and Wolfenstein cannot miss" is what the summary text of PROJECT WARLOCK"Project Warlock is a first person shooter that fans of Doom, Hexen and Wolfenstein cannot miss" is what the summary text of PROJECT WARLOCK reads and that is the problem: it mixes everything, present, medieval and sci-fi and that just doesn't work. Stick to ONE theme!
The graphics are "old school" with a cartoonish look which I did not care for. The level design is poor as well. There are other "old school" shooters out there that do a far better job as WARLOCK like DUSK, ION FURY, APOCRYPH or WRATH: AEON OF RUIN.
