  • Summary: Whatever else may be said about Quake II, one thing is certain: It is the only first-person shooter to render the original Quake entirely obsolete.

It offers and intense single player experience that introduces tactical gameplay, disturbing imagery, tense moments and boot to the face all in a Hollywood style science fiction setting. Quake II offers the ability for players to compete in multiplayer matches such as Death matches and Capture the Flag but there are a ton of modifications available for everything from the maps to the weapons and character skins. Now, Quake is at this time 14 years old but it still holds up as a fantastic game that showcases what games can be even with a somewhat limited technology and die hard fans while opening the door to the possibilities for the future of gaming.
