  1. A good start that quickly falls off into a discombobulated mess of the story’s true purpose but is successful in constantly delivering hordes of baddies to tear apart.
  2. Ultimately, Turok is the kind of game which you either like very much, or you hate and uninstall it after the first 10 minutes.
  3. The human A.I. aren't all that intelligent, but what they lack in brains they make up for in resilience.

Turok is a decent game with obvious flaws. Its first steps as a reborn franchise are decent ones, though it's difficult to recommend over so many other titles on the PC market.

It's terribly inconsistent and feels like a shooter from the last century. [Aug 2008, p.74]
  6. Years ago Turok was an instant hit on game consoles. But today on PC things are different. The controls are probably the worst of all console-to-PC conversions and not editable. It's not possible to save the game freely and save points are so rare, it almost feels like the developers want you to give up. Turok fails in level design and game controls, but we've played it until the end because it tells an interesting story.

Mediocre and dismally uninspired. [July 2008, p.88]

PC version in 2022 is playable but with some small technical problems, like to small FOV (can be fixed, but this will brake other things).PC version in 2022 is playable but with some small technical problems, like to small FOV (can be fixed, but this will brake other things). There was no glitches or critical bugs. Hope for remaster, it will be awesome.

Visual design and graphics is OK. Very similar to mid 2000's FPS games (FarCry, Doom3, Quake4 etc.)
Weapons gameplay is nice, enemies not super smart (can stand in a middle of nowhere for a 5 seconds before find a cover).
    Level design is too linear.
And final boss is .. meh.

This reboot at launch tried to change the main game's landscape and main plot elements, instead of making a game about intergalactic menaceThis reboot at launch tried to change the main game's landscape and main plot elements, instead of making a game about intergalactic menace and other alien forms, Propaganda games opted to a more generic military shooter roots.
I have never played Turok before (the original/main games from the series) and the purpose of this reboot was approaching to a new audience... people like me that never play a Turok game before and trying to fit it to the standards of the game industry in 2008, that was extremely influence on the success that Call of Duty generated in 2007.
Unfortunately for Propaganda Games and Disney Interactive this turned out to be a bad game that even a new comer into the series like me could even notice.
The games's plot is as generic as it could be, about chasing for some criminal and his guerrilla soldiers in a planet inhabited by dinosaurs and you carry with more soldiers.
Turok was build using the Unreal 3 Engine but... it look terrible... looks like it was build using the free version of the Unreal 3 which was called UDK (Unreal development Kit).
The level design is too unimaginative, the game has 3 settings, the jungle, caves and enemy bases. The jungle levels are nothing more that big rocks with some big trees and grass, they all look the same. The caves... well... just rocks and more rocks, and the enemy bases grey corridors with some computer screens on the walls.
The gameplay is generic and repetitive, shoot everything that moves, some quick time events, and regenerating health.
Dealing with enemies is a pain in the ass here and inconsistent, let's start with the dinosaur enemies, shooting at them will consume most of your ammo, stab them is more effectively that shoot them, which is weird, and beside that, dinosaurs will keep re spawning unless you keep moving. Enemy soldiers in the other hand come in squads and they are bullet sponges at times some other times they will die from a couple of shoots, and they can kick your ass to quickly... yes... you will die a lot because of that in this game.
The player can only carry a small amount of weapons and well... there aren't many weapons in this game as well, there are moments were the game will trow you some stealth mechanics for stab enemies while stay hidden on the grass or use the arrow to shoot them, but... they suck... and once you get spotted it's guns blazing, but this kind of games should be 100% guns blazing.
weapons are weak specially the arrow that like i mention you will mostly use it for stealth attacks, but enemies will require at least 2 arrows.
Boss fights are not that often and when they happen, this boss fights will require some specific pasterns to be beaten, the final boss is lame by the way...
After this game the series haven't seen other game, but this game should have never came out.
