  1. If you've seen one Armored Core title, you've seen them all. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is easily the best of the bunch.
  2. In spite of a few omissions, Another Age is near exactly the expansion that gamers were looking for.
  3. You still can't find a more engrossing, bot-builder. The level of customization has yet to be matched, making AC2:AA one of the most replayable games in your library.

Palpably incomplete…[yet] the deepest mech game yet made for a console. [Nov 2001, p.100]
  5. So what’s not to like? Really nothing, but neither is there really anything that stunned me. This is good, solid, ‘Mech gaming, yet nothing more.
  6. While many may be frightened off due to the depth and complexity, others (especially fans of "AC 2") will joyfully sink their teeth into this one.
  7. A dizzying variety of new and classic armaments and parts, allowing for unprecedented amounts of Armored Core customization.
  8. What you need is patience, thorough reading skills (to get through the manual), and a real appetite for destruction.

It is in essence the same game, just with new core parts and a massive selection of new missions.
  10. We just find this new instalment (if not version) of the same game (oh-so) slightly better for reasons we can’t truly explain. It just is. Slightly.
  11. Only slightly different, Another Age fails in the fact that it is nearly a cookie-cutter copy of the original game. If the original was excellent to begin with, why not play it again?

Don’t enter Another Age expecting a full-fledged sequel to Agetec’s giant-robot fighting franchise. This AC2 expansion pack adds about 100 missions and new multiplayer options…but not a whole lot more.

    An excellent expansion pack.
  14. A massive improvement over the decent shooting/evading/customizing/dashing action from its predecessor. No mech fanatic would be sane without checking it out.
  15. This build-your-own-robot game gives grease monkeys a 20-story garage, hundreds of parts, and plenty of time to tinker with and create the ultimate 40-ton rig.

Another age is for Core heads only, and even some of them will be disappointed with more of the same. [Oct 2001, p.145]

Although it lacks the arena mode, and really doens't have a story line, the improved resolution, larger more detailed levels, new inovative parts, and 100+ missions help htis game out tremindously. The mission variety is greater, and the response time is a lot better this time around as well. You can also use the anolong sticks too. But the one thing that keeps me and my friends addicted to this game is the 2 player co-op mode. Now thats what this series needed. It's a shame they took out the on-line aspect of it. Full Review »

The atmosphere is dark and the story has lots of missions, but gameplay suffers from the slow and predictable movements of your mech and buying and mounting new parts is far from easy. Full Review »
