To defend their underwater territory, players undertake a campaign to drive the raiders away while simultaneously solving a series of action-based puzzles designed to thwart the player. Taking the game to realistic heights is Appaloosa's advanced game engine that produces stunning underwater visuals and realistic physics that enable the Great White to perform a variety of leaping, twisting assaults, thus rendering havens such as dive platforms and boats vulnerable to attack. It's not one of those games you'll play forever, but I suspect that for many it will be one of those games that sits on the shelf so that any time you're feeling particularly evil or you've just had a bad day, you'll load it up and go eat some people.

It's a testament to the imagination of the developers that they keep coming up with variations on the central theme of "eat everyone." [Sept 2006, p.79]

Jaws is genuinely witty, outrageously violent and top fun but - wait for it - slightly lacking in depth. [Aug 2006, p.90]
  4. What could have been a very neat idea is ruined by a bad camera, buggy gameplay, and totally ridiculous mission objectives.
  5. JAWS Unleashed could’ve been a great game, given it’s unique premise and experienced developer. Unfortunately, the game is too buggy and has too many issues to make it one to recommend.
  6. Jaws Unleashed is a rather scant offering, but it could still be your new guilty pleasure. The field of shark simulators is rather narrow, and it’s entirely possible that Jaws Unleashed wins top honors just by showing up. Perfect for kicking back and turning your brain off, but not much more.
  7. It provides roughly fifteen minutes of absolutely gruesome, chaotic pleasure, then promptly nosedives into the Mariana Trench of bad design, bad graphics and bad control.

Don't listen to what the reviewers are saying if they say its horrible. It isn't as bad as they are making it out to be. The controls are easy to learn, the graphics are just fine, the draw distance is normal, and the fun factor is HUGE! I bought it yesterday, and started playing it and it is a blast. You get to roam around the whole island as the top predator, in a GTA free roam environment. You are enormous and overly powerful, which makes it a blast to take down boats and Jet Ski's and such. You can also pretty much eat everything you want that is smaller than you, and you have great moves. I like the ability to increase your skills, and become even more of a beast. My point is that It is a very good game, hasn't crashed or done anything wierd to me as of yet, and the price is great. Big game Big Shark Big fun. Enjoy it! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I give it a 7.5 as a final score. It is a game I've been playing since I was 8, and eventually mine broke, I recently, and I'm playing through it, I have noticed some things I didn't pick up on when I was little, such as the difficulty and I feel Jaws is sorta underpowered in the beginning of the game, as well as the iffy camera angles and constant annoyance of jaws splashing in and out of the water while attacking, especially the Orca boss battle. I haven't noticed any glitches yet, but if I do I will update this review. Expand

In terms of fun, it's all there. I find it hard to become bored of this game. From devouring every unfortunate swimmer in site, every animal, sinking every boat, and causing great trouble and chaos, it's no wonder one reviewer called it "Grand Shark Auto," because that's basically what it is. From a technical aspect, this game has its share of bugs, none of which are game breaking, but otherwise it's mediocre at best. So, to summarize, this game's story was not fully-realized, and technically it's not a very good game, but even so it's fun, and I suppose that's what's most important. Expand
