Beyond the surface, you'll find a set of imaginative and extremely well-developed ports of games that did very well in other countries, but didn't get the recognition in this part of the world that they deserved.
-
Metal Slug Anthology is already a tremendous deal for your money, and it's definitely worth checking out for anyone into chaotic old school mayhem. The Playstation 2 version is also the best one for your money, since it isn't hampered by the control or loading issues of the other ports.
-
Even though the PSP and Wii versions weren’t great, the PS2 version of Metal Slug Anthology shows just how fantastic retro game collections can be.
-
Bright, colorful graphics, varied settings, powerful weapons, huge bosses and all the frantic action that made these games sweet in the old days comes together in Metal Slug Anthology as a must-own for shooter fans.
-
Metal Slug anthology is not a game to complete and then toss away either. It has a potentially unlimited replayability as well, which is emphasised by the lack of saving and pausing. It is immediate, and always ready. Recommended.

PSM3 Magazine UKThere's no denying that it's repetitive, but it retains its arcade-style toughness. [July 2007, p.84]
-
There is very little to fault Metal Slug: Anthology. Big guns, big vehicles and some colossal enemies is a combination that seldom comes under serious scrutiny, and of all the big platforming shooters out there, Metal Slug owns the field.
