  • Summary: NBA Showtime fans may enjoy Hoopz, but the game would have benefited from an honest-to-goodness arcade mode and a speed setting, if not faster overall gameplay.

  1. The faces are the truest recreation of NBA stars I've seen, though the big heads do look a little out of place on the equally outlandish bods.

As a single player game it can become pretty infuriating having to put up with the computer AI.
  3. A fun game, but is it the best 3D update to the classic NBA Jam? No -- and it's not as good as many of the 2D incarnations either.
  4. Having fun is great, but the rest of the package isn't as alluring as a sparkling new PS2 title should be.
  5. It had a proven track record of great arcade basketball gaming behind it, and although it is entertaining, this year’s offering fails to live up to that legacy.
  6. A multi-player friendly exercise in acrobatic lunacy and dunking maneuvers.
  7. 40
Only if you're desperate, really, really desperate. But if you were looking forward to a new kind of game, a fun, arcade-style hoops game that will really open your eyes, wait for "NBA Street."
