  1. It's impossible to know for sure, but I can only imagine that if the initial version had been as finely-honed as Inferno, it would have received a much warmer welcome. Instead, thanks to all the negative word-of-mouth generated by the inferior 360 version, Inferno came and went with hardly anyone blinking an eye.
  2. Inferno is closer to the Alone in the Dark that should have been. Atari fixed some crucial flaws and improved other aspects, and yet the game still feels slightly rough.
  3. Inferno is well worth checking out, and even picking up, and it's something that I hope people are willing to go back to if they were left frustrated by the 360 version of the game.
  4. After releasing the Xbox 360 and PC versions with some major problems, Eden Games show us that they got the necessary humility to admit and correct those failures. Now, in Alone in the Dark Inferno, they are really offering the definitive experience in an appealing game directed not only for those who have patience enough do surface all the errors, but for all the fans.
  5. A great addition to the series that shies away from the mindless killing-fest of other horror games on the market today, yet stays true to the atmospheric horror adventure of its roots. Great to play in the dark – if you dare.
  6. Alone in the Dark proves that with a little time and patience, a good game can be created from innovative ideas.

Alone in the Dark: Inferno is much closer to the developer's original interpretation than the original game allowed.
  8. Thanks to some key improvements, Alone in the Dark: Inferno is a more playable, more satisfying version of this unique adventure.

The story was well thought out and the graphics (esp. lighting) are incredible. It also has some original ideas (like the inventory screen and combing items in a new way). The controls on the other hand are terrible. Driving is near impossible and the rest of the game is a chore to get through. Full Review »

I played it long time ago and I can say that is still one of the best survival horror I have ever played. I loved the horror atmosphere, the gameplay and the story.
The puzzles were very contextual and all disseminated in the environment and I believe that that was the best part that made the game innovative. Wherever you went they made you reflect and use your creativity in order to progress in the game or fight enemies. Also you could combine all the items in the inventory and use it strategically.
The only downside was the combat system, ok sometimes it was a bit annoying but that was the only problem. And we also need to consider that in a survival horror a clumsy combat system could be inherent in it and an element that might increase the anxiety. I would understand that that would be a big problem in a action or shooting game where the combat system is pivotal but not in a survival horror.
Anyway I think this game deserved far more recognition and I don’t understand why have never been done video game with the same innovative and amazing gameplay.

The only problems i had were the controls, which i didnt mind and the graphics could have been better and also vehicle control which felt a little akward, but wasnt a huge thing. Other than that, Inferno has some memorable moments and a story which grips you from the start. Well worth a look, if not a purchase. Full Review »
