Puzzle fan or not, you've most certainly heard of Bejeweled before. The gameplay is simplicity itself: shove gemstones of the same color against each other and they will magically disappear. And repeat that throughout the eight different modes, including four new ones. [June 2012, p.98]

The addictive gameplay should not be underestimated, and three stones are sometimes more than only three stones.

There are a bunch of new modes from previous versions to challenge your timing and they're insanely addictive. It won't just be your gems that'll disappear, it'll be your life. Our (life-crippling) highlight is the Poker mode. [June 2012, p 81]

At heart this is still Bejeweled doing what it's done for more than a decade. [July 2012, p.117]

Three good games in one great collection but the price is really too high.

I can only give this game an 8 because really it is a simple game and I guess i just consider simple games to be games which will entertain for a few days then put away for a few months then dig out, rinse and repeat. That said Bejeweled 3 is a great buy and is really well done. I also consider glitch free to be more important than anything else and the game at question is just personal preference. Bejeweled 3 has four modes - one style for any type of player. It has the classic game which is almost elimination if you make a mistake you have no matches and game over. The second mode is zen which you can essentially take your time and play and there are always matches somewhere. Third mode is adventure which has modified challenges based on different ways to clear an area by matching 3 or more jewels and different stages of increasing difficulty. Last mode is lightning mode which gives one minute games and you can earn bonus time(s) which extend your game. So really the game design of all included modes should put you in there somewhere no matter if you are casual or hardcore. On PS3 they have included two bonus games. One game is basically you are fish and you keep eating bigger fish until you are eaten and the other is essentially a train of beads coming towards you while you sit in the center and launch beads into the train-color matches destroy that segment of the train. All games are puzzle games and all games are a bit varied in their puzzle play. I was stunned by how fun the "train" game (Zuma) was. This game alone is worth the $20 disc in my opinion. Again I think this is a must have game especially for puzzlers who like games like Tetris or Dr. Mario. The disc is error free and there are leaderboards online. You just can't go wrong for the price. Again I took 2 pts off review perhaps unfairly because these are simple games but I still feel these are must have games since presented so well. Expand
