Puyo Puyo tetris 2 is an enjoyable yet simple puzzler that combines two classic titles into one fantastic game that is sure to leave a smile on your face.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is based on the original title to make a bigger and better game, achieving a perfect experience with puzzles, new modes, new characters and the same playable perfection that Puyo Puyo and Tetris offer.
Now THIS is a game. GROUNDBREAKING graphics. INTESE gameplay. EMOTIONAL storyline. THIS is the pinnacle of video games. Can you REAAAAAALLY call **** if you haven't played this MASTERPIECE? This game has refined the Tetris gameplay into its final form if you will. The puyo puyo parts are mid, but because Tetris is such a spectacular, earth ****, genre defining experience that this game is automatically a 10/10. Must play.
Part of the charm of Puyo Puyo is the characters, and when you combine that with the personification of the Tetraminoes there is a lot to enjoy here. The Adventure mode is full of quirky and silly interactions with characters Puyo fans will be familiar with, along with any fondness for the characters PPT introduced. The new Skill Battle mode might not set the world on fire, but if you want more out of the game you could spend some time levelling up a team. On top of that, the game is just really fun to play, especially if you can join friends either in person or online. There is also more free content to be added into the game post-launch to look forward to as well! Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a welcome return when the world can do with an enjoyable game to see out 2020.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 might be a hard sell if you already own the first game and aren't a die-hard fanatic. This release doesn't change up the entire formula but instead improves on nearly every aspect of the previous title with more characters, more modes, and a delightful new story mode. There are minor missteps like the half-baked Skill Battle mode, but the amount of addictive content on offer is still extremely impressive. If you never picked up Puyo Puyo Tetris, though, you owe it to yourself to grab this one.
Everything that makes Puyo Puyo Tetris great is here, but the additions are incredibly underwhelming. The story is just as simplistic as the first one, and the new “map” is a glorified way to show off a list of challenges hidden behind light character banter. If you’re new to the series, this would be a good starting point, but anyone content with the first Puyo Puyo Tetris doesn’t necessarily need to upgrade.
As a big fan of the original and of Tetris in general, it really pains me to give Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 this score. I really want it to be higher, but the persistence of the sensitivity problem had me throwing down my controller and cursing in rage too much to not be a factor. If you aren’t a serious Tetris or Puyo Puyo veteran, this probably won’t matter to you and you absolutely can have a blast. But if you are, there’s a good chance you’ll experience some frustration alongside the fun. It’s still worth playing, but the issues are too significant to ignore.
After Sega publish Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 which it delays for too much and has lacking of contents, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a hell nostalgic experience at all. Although the game is not perfect to arcade experience and pretty unbalanced to the last game, it has contents and more aspects that brings more hours of playing this game. It brings excitement for me since this franchise start to nowadays. It's surpasses every puzzle game.
This game still reflects for Sega that they did what Nintendon't!!! Excellent indie game. Someone still sings that Genesis song. Nice!
So, I came into this game as a solid Tetris 99 player and a newbie at Puyo Puyo. I got half way through story mode, at which point Tetris had been very easy and Puyo Puyo had been a good challenge but was now becoming difficult. This was somewhat expected, although I thought I might get a little farther before Puyo Puyo became so difficult. I enjoyed this first half of the game and decided to try out another of the various game modes I saw in the menu. So, I switched to online play for Tetris only, something I was looking forward to. Online play for Tetris does not run smooth. I may go back to finish story mode or play other game modes but I can’t go higher than this with the disappointing online Tetris.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a very fun game indeed, it’s packed with content and has a lot to offer, but as you progress further in some modes the difficulty just makes it too hard for me to actually enjoy. The AI in Puyo Puyo mode always has some formation set for them to use to instakill me if I don’t do something fast enough, and overall the difficulty can really mask up the fun in this game. I enjoy difficulty in a game, but not to the point where it becomes unenjoyable- even after the given lessons by the game.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is not a bad game. Compared to the previous work, it was seen that the balance was not right, but the new skill battle was interesting. But the biggest problem with this game is that it rejects newbies. There is no separate tutorial, and adventure mode becomes very difficult as you go back. The description of the new skill battle is poor. It's true that Puyo Puyo and Tetris are difficult games, but I see it unfortunately because it is a game that requires more newbies. /Google translate
