None of the characters or situations in Coffee Talk are simple or black-and-white. Rather, the world is a beautiful, complicated shade of grey. People aren't "good" or "bad," they're just trying to do their best. The message is hopeful. The pace is soothing. The music is well-suited to the environment. Coffee Talk really delivers on all fronts, and even offers more game time post-story. Now, it's time for me to return to my customers, I think the orc has arrived...

Coffee Talk offers a filling brew of coffee-making simulation, relatable scenarios, and welcoming atmosphere. While it lacks in interactivity, the candidly everyday stories will keep you engaged. So come on into Coffee Talk and experience a fortnight filled with warmth and solidarity.

Coffee Talk shows the powerful relationships that can form around a cuppa joe, but it does so in predictable, well-worn ways.

One novel inclusion that helps repalyability is a challenge mode, where you go against a timer to craft as many accurate beverages as you can. As the descriptions get progressively more obtuse, things get harder and we found ourselves really rather enjoying the action.

A telling of very human relationships in an interesting everyday fantasy setting. Coffee Talk is slow paced even for a visual novel, but has some unexpected twists that make the journey worthwhile.

Coffee Talk is a short but sweet experience, perfect for visual novel veterans and newcomers to the genre. It's easy to empathize with the bitter but optimistic world created by developer Toge Productions, and the main story provides a satisfying narrative experience that stands alongside the best in the genre... At the very least, it'll surely have players try out more exotic brews next time they visit their local coffee shop.

Despite having to rustle up the occasional cup of coffee or tea, this is one of the least interactive games to grace the PS4. A little more effort on the part of the developer with character interaction could have made the storytelling more enjoyable and given the game some depth. Otherwise if you're happy relaxing and reading the dialogue for a few hours, it could be for you.
