Destiny 2 Beyond Light has turned the universe we know and love on its head by removing four major locations, five raids, outdated activities, and the sunsetting of weapons and gear. While the removal of content may seem negative, this is what the game needs to grow. Destiny 2 Beyond Light gives us a great story and an exciting new subclass with Stasis, and a huge new location in Europa. Bungie has made some hard choices to restructure Destiny 2 rather than restart the game completely with Destiny 3. What's on the horizon is something I truly cannot wait for, and I am excited to experience everything the game has to throw at me. While the Darkness is finally here, the future is bright for Destiny 2, and Beyond Light is only the tip of the iceberg.

Beyond Light feels like a sequel reset without all the baggage of starting from scratch. New powers and a shakeup in playable areas revitalize the formula for returning players, but detractors still won’t be won over.

Beyond Light is a great expansion that shines thanks to the introduction of the stasis, a new and fun power that promises to changes everything. If you also love the lore and want to know a lot more about the Destiny universe, this expansion is for you.

Come for the change of scenery, stay for the change of abilities. Even if you don’t usually enjoy the grind, you should end up warming to this chilly package.[Issue#183, p.97]

Beyond the Light is an extension that delivers an experience at the border between excellence and inertia. On the one hand, Bungie delivers many answers for its universe and for the fans, and offers an incredibly beautiful new destination, but on the other, it is clear that the studio has not changed the formula it initiated several years ago one iota.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is not a revolution in the gameplay department and world of Destiny 2, but it can pleasantly entertain you for a while – basic shooter formula of the game still works perfectly.

Beyond Light's lack of new content, combined with the massive amounts of vaulted content, left the game in a horribly empty and plain state.

This expansion feels fresh, the pool of new weapons isint as large as past expansions. But each and everyone of them feel amazing and have plenty of new talent and roles to hunt down. Most weapons that have been sunset are still usable in pvp.

I find myself always having something to do, the rhythm of unlocks feels fair and well researched.

The new subclass are such a breath of fresh air and take time to fully unlock.

The art direction sets up a brilliant ambiance.

Best expansion yet. The world building is beautiful. Very happy with where they are taking the story. Finally getting back to Destiny 1 lore.

Love europa, like the new story and the ability to wield the dark, enjoy the new generic changes and looking forward to the new raid. Bit concerning that the armour I've grinded after 2.0 to eventually be sunset, bit pointless to me. Expand

Once more the lack of content is very obvious and lets down all destiny hardcore gamers that see their dollars being robbed for a promise of a better future content.

A couple of missions, one strike and one raid...that is it. With the cutted content, this tastes too little, too late...and very short.
Destiny has survived this long because all the fans always say: “next update will be the good one, the one Bungie fixes all issues”, mainly because of one aspect: Friends.
Gamers want to login, join their mates and have some fun together, and they are willing to pay dor that to happen...as long as patience lasts, and it seems that it already started to fade for a lot of players.

Destiny is not fighting for their future at this point, more for survival and the last cash-in before hope of the fans finally runs out.

Europa as a new location is pretty, but rather empty, and with no new enemies.
How long can tou kill the same targets hours on end, for all this years?

Worth to wait for future news on destiny franchise, until then, maybe it is time to (for now) let tour ghost well stored away.

Stasis is cool but that’s it. Very few new weapons, less content, same world loot drops that are already sunset...

The relationship between Bungie and the Destiny playerbase has been a story of a dog and its owner for years now. Bungie likes to kick the dogThe relationship between Bungie and the Destiny playerbase has been a story of a dog and its owner for years now. Bungie likes to kick the dog until it cries then give it a treat and act like nothing happened. Well, I've been kicked for 5 year now. The Taken King was the last great thing to come out of Destiny (content wise). Forsaken was alright, cool lore additions, a good raid, and above all an interesting destination that kept me coming back for a time.

This issue I have with Beyond Light is that it DESTROYS the lore building and first-time-player experience. So many Strikes, Raids, Crucible maps and more were removed and all that's left in it's place is a shamble of a DLC. Not to mention, the "vaulting" of WHOLE DESTINATIONS is quite possible the most destructive thing a developer can do to a MMORPG.

Bungie, I'm not coming back. No matter how many haunted moons you promise, I know I'll just get let down again.
