Don Bradman 17 is an improvement on Don Bradman 14 but it's no giant leap for cricketing kind. If you're a cricket fan and want to experience your sport in a video game this is by far your best option.

Commentators aside, some of what Big Ant did well in the original game gets a bit lost in its second season. buried under the weight of the options and menus. But, you can still smash it like the Big Bash and IPL, if that’s what you’re after. Or, you can go all village green on the game. It’s slow, deliberate, complicated and, without any cynicism, that may be the best thing about Don Bradman Cricket 17.

Loved Don Bradman 14 and have been holding off playing that for the last few month so I could get into this.

Game I have to say is very similar to DBC 14 and there aren't that many new features involved. The bowling has been slightly tweaked but essentially apart from looking at the meters slightly different it remains basically the same.

The graphics look a lot better than what they were and the introduction into the career mode of club cricket is a good one and letting you develop through the teams.

I suppose this is all about expectations really. If you imagine it will be as polished a game as the suite of EA games then you would be wrong. However if you loved DBC 14 and love cricket in general then this is certainly a game you'd want to play. Whether it be a solo career or having a few mates round and playing together.

There are no other cricket games on the market and hence nothing really to compare against, however I thoroughly enjoy a few hours playing this.

A lot of Expectations a lot of Excitement and a Lot of Disappointment. This exactly describes my experience of DBC17. Dont get me wrong, i amA lot of Expectations a lot of Excitement and a Lot of Disappointment. This exactly describes my experience of DBC17. Dont get me wrong, i am a big fan of Big Ants. They made the best cricket game till date in DBC 14. I had a lot of excitement for DBC 17 after seeiing the Demo Version. In DBC 14 finally we had a great and enjoyable cricket game. Being a die hard fan of Cricket i have played hours of EA cricket 2007 which is a very very bad game to be honest just to get the feel of a Cricket game. So when DBC 14 arrived it blew me away.
Big Ants did not have to do much to make DBC 17 a success to be honest. They should have taken DBC 14 as the base and just made minor corrections to it like Graphics, fine tuning of bowling mechanics, Lighting, Academy and the game would have been great.
BUT they have made DBC 17 a joke instead. The graphics have improved no doubt but overall the game lacks quite a bit of finishing. Its an unfinished game that they have released.
Batting: It has become woefully aweful as you no longer have 360 degree shots. You have only 12 places where the ball can go whereas DBC 14 had almost 28-30. he game does not have a proper cover drive and the cut shots are aweful.
Bowling: Bowling has been made easy no doubt but it has become too difficult to pick up wickets in a career mode match which makes the gameplay frustrating as the AI keeps playing the same shot to the third man- point region.
The overall game play has been slowed down a lot and the overall atmosphere like the crowd, the noise are very dull.
The commentary is awful and DBC 14 had a lot better commentary.
I dont know why but the entire game just does not feel like a ps4 game.
It feels a lot more like a PS2 game where as DBC 14 felt like a ps4 game.
The academy is broken as there are a lot of problems like same player being in the squad twice.
The game Crashes a hell lot. It keeps crashing all the time, it is quite frustrating.

The game is priced at the higher level, at the level of FIFA, WWE games. And compared to them the game is no where near acceptable. For such a high price i cannot accept a game with so many bugs and crashes rest apart the sluggish gameplay.

I sold my copy of DBC 17 within 12 days and bought back DBC 14. YES I DID. I just did not enjoy the game al all.
Well the 3 stars i have given are for: 1 for Graphics, 1 for Big Ants for making a cricket game, 1 for improved bowling mechanism.
If you have DBC 14 i would suggest stick with it and if you dont then GO buy DBC 14. Give DC 17 a pass.

Bowling is a remarkable improvement while all other areas are significantly poorer than the previous edition of the game (which says somethingBowling is a remarkable improvement while all other areas are significantly poorer than the previous edition of the game (which says something in itself). Batting, Fielding, Running and Cameras all have game breaking issues.

The game appears to be severely under-developed and curiously worse than its predecessor as several aspects of core gameplay which worked well in the previous edition are broken here. I am not sure what the Developers and the QA team at Bigant were thinking before releasing this game. All of these issues were apparent to me within 2-3 hours of playing the game and it is baffling as to how Bigant missed them (did they play the game even once before releasing it – pun intended).

Bigant did a wonderful job with DBC 14 where they built a ground breaking cricket game from scratch, but looking at the quality of DBC 17….I am forced to contemplate whether they really devoted any time, money or thought towards this title or if it was just a profit making exercise to ensure that they hit their margins across both iterations of the game.

Having Women Players, Helicopter shots, Dilscoops, Stadium Creators etc are just bells and whistles....and in my opinion irrelevant if you cannot get the simplest, fundamental aspects right, especially those that already existed in the previous version. I would be glad to be proven wrong and as yet hold belief that Bigant will release patches to fix most of these issues, but their lack of proper acknowledgement of these issues gives cause for concern.

As it stands if you have a copy of DBC 14 you should not buy DBC 17, and if you do not have a copy of DBC 14….you should buy DBC 14 !!!

Don Bradman Cricket 17 ImageThis is by far the worst video game I have ever spent money on!!!

As a huge fan of DBC 14, I figured it was a safe bet - all they had to do was re-release DBC 14 with a few extra bells and whistles and I would have been happy... This is not at all what has happened!

There are 2 main problems with this game, and the first is bugs... there are many, many, many, many bugs... I have played early-access titles that have run better and crashed less than this title... It honestly feels like a poorly made tech demo...

The second problem (the big one) is that instead of improving on what they already had in DBC 14, Big Ant seems to have tried to completely redesign most aspects of the game... This has resulted in many things, such as an overly complicated, messy and ineffective UI, bowling controls that do exactly the same thing as DBC 14 - but require you to press twice as many buttons to achieve the same result, batsmen being literally unable to hit the ball to over 50% of the field, and the list goes on and on...

It's as if they listened to the feedback from DBC 14 and tried to improve a few elements of the gameplay (Which they failed at not surprisingly), while simultaneously breaking every other element that existed and worked well in DBC 14...

To illustrate the kind of thought processes that the developers used while making this game, consider this little gem - When playing in career mode, there is no way to view your players overall career statistics...

They have also invented new types of cricket shots that don't exist in real life to replace actual cricket shots...

This is literally a downgrade from DBC 14...

Avoid this trash until Big Ant fix the many issues they released it with... And even then, consider not supporting a developer with such dodgy and dishonest business practices!
