That sense of creative progression, coupled with the inherent danger of exploring underground caverns full of monsters, makes Minecraft exciting, rewarding, tense, and one of gaming’s most expressive creative outlets.

The Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition is the penultimate version of this game on any console.

It’s the best console version of one of the most important games of the decade. Some limitations imposed by the platform might annoy hardcore Minecraft fans, but they are not the target group here. [13/2014, p.42]

It can't top what's on PC, but this is still a fine version of one of modern gaming's defining experiences. [Dec 2014, p.65]

Minecraft on PS4 and Xbox One finally gets the resolution 1080p and framerate with 60fps. You will miss the mods and contents of PC version, but this edition is perfect for playing in your living room with friends.

Even without the ability to install mods and play on infinite worlds propped up by dedicated servers, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition is still a strong addition to your next-gen library.

I love Minecraft, it is one of the best games to come out of the last 10 years and it is especially good on PS4. The graphics are smooth and crisp and the draw distance breathes new life into the world of Minecraft.

In creative mode you have all blocks unlocked with an unlimited amount so you can build to your hearts content and this is where the fun begins. You can literally build anything you want. Recreate Vegas or build the London eye, create a fantasy world or a underground city. Build under or over water, build in the sky the possibilities are endless.

A fantastic game with a mesmerising soundtrack to add a lovely ambience to the worlds you are creating.
Minecraft is the equivalent of having an unlimited box of Lego and an entire world to build in. If you don't already own it, I'd highly recommend adding it to your collection.

Even though the graphic model is basic with it's pixellated and blocky appearance, it still produces amazing vistas.

The only thing I expected more of is the amount of raw ores. For a game that's this expansive in every sense, that aspect feels a bit limited to me.

    + Fun
    + Addictive
    + Freedom
+ Impressive how nice it can look, while all it has is blocks, blocks and more blocks

    - Can feel repetitive after a while
    - Not enough variety in ore resources

Expand

But if I want to play cross-platform then it’s just as bad as Donald Dump himself. I’ve had to connect my account FOUR TIMES. Deleted Minecraft THREE TIMES and had to wait THREE HOURS for the update file EACH TIME just so my Microsoft account would connect again. The fact that I haven’t destroyed the disc yet is an obvious miracle. Waste of my time if I wanted to cross-platform play with friends Expand
