With its relaxed nautical paddling beats, accurate kayak physics and photorealistic locations, Kayak VR: Mirage is my go-to PSVR2 game after a particularly stressful day or as a palette cleanser after playing more intense PSVR2 titles. Though its content offering could be broader, the simple fact remains that Kayak VR: Mirage effortlessly commends itself as one of the highlights of the PSVR2 launch line-up and is a VR experience that everybody should play.

Kayak VR: Mirage may not be the most content-rich title, but if you’re picking up PSVR 2 and want something that will impress you with its visuals and realistic mechanics it’s well worth checking out. From its races that will give your arms a decent workout, to its laid-back tours, there’s a little something here for almost everyone. And while it won’t take you too long to see and do most of what it has to offer, there’s a good chance you’ll keep it installed just so that you can immerse yourself in its stunning locales every once in a while.

Kayak VR: Mirage is a testament to the power of the PlayStation VR2 and a showcase for those who want to show their friends and family what VR is all about. While more of an experience than a full-fledged game, Kayak VR manages to provide a gorgeous, realistic, memorable, and relaxing experience which accurately mimics real kayaking and is almost certain to make you begin plans for your next vacation.

A startlingly realistic rendition of Kayaking that matches the reality of being in a small boat out at sea. If you know how to move, it’ll surprise you how well it reacts, and there are even rocks you can physically push off to get moving. With interesting locations, pretty scenery, and weather that can be turned up or down, this is both a good workout if you want it, and a nice serene place to relax.

We spent most of our time in free-roam, but there's a racing and tour mode, for those that either love all the effort or none at all. But sadly, that's about it. There's no multiplayer support at launch, and only four locations are available to explore, so it certainly won't keep you around for long. However, despite this, Kayak VR: Mirage is still a great showcase for the tech, and will certainly be one of the first titles you dig out for your friends to try. There may not be a lot to it, but we can't deny the tranquil experience it offers.

Beautiful locales and a valiant attempt at gamifying kayaking can’t mask the fact that Kayak VR: Mirage will be rough water for some players.

Kayak VR: Mirage is one of the best graphics ever seen in VR. It's a great title to relax and enjoy the scenery. However, there are few locations and the race mode can be quite stressful.

No immediate menus or tutorials, just an immediate "wow, cool!" moment.

Graphics look incredible on the PSVR2, and just paddling up to some rocks and then pushing yourself away with the end of the paddle feels so weirdly real that I can't really describe it.

Highly recommend using a mop (with the head removed of course) or something similar and some zip-ties for the full experience!

So far I am having a lot of fun using it as a nice break from some of the more intense VR games, it is a lot of fun for me just to paddle around and enjoy some scenery.

I experienced some motion sickness during my first two or three kajak trips, but it got less and less the more I played.
Some more areas would be great. But I didn't regret spending 21 Euro on this game. Best VR experience besides GT7 and Puzzling Places.

To review it as an experience, which it is what it essentially is, I have to say that this is one of the best, if not the best I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy in virtual reality.
As well as being brilliantly immersive, the graphics are among the best I have ever seen on any headset I have tried and testament to the expertise and passion that the developers have put in to creating this masterpiece.
There is nothing to compare it to on my Xbox Series X for obvious reasons but, to my surprise, I actually prefer the PSVR2 to my Oculus Quest 2 even when tethered to my 3090 PC, it is just that good. I would say the graphics are on par with the PC but look even better on the oled screens that the PS5 version has available.
I must admit that I did experience a fair bit of nausea initially with this title but, after playing around with the accessibility options, I have found a nice comfort level and don't get such issues anymore so well worth experimenting with if you experience similar discomfort.
I would not hesitate to recommend this title and would go as far as to say that every PSVR2 owner should buy it. Fantastic.

There are only 4 areas, which are all small, that I can fully explore in about 5-15 minutes in free roam. I cannot choose where I can start kayaking in that mode; the game places me in the same preset spot for that particular area. There is a racing mode, where I compete against 'ghost' players (this game does not have real-time multiplayer) somewhere on the leaderboards.

This game looks absolutely gorgeous. The water physics reacts realistically to my kayak and my paddle. Honestly, VR is best played when there are many interactions, not by how good the game looks, but I'll give this game some credit in this regard. However, I can witness all the content in this game in an hour, and then I get bored as there is nothing else to do other than racing, collecting trophies, and maybe rediscovering interesting details, such as the giant whale diving outwards in the Antarctica area and poking the snake in the Australia area. The developers stated on their roadmap that they will add real-time multiplayer and an open world, so hopefully, the game will have significantly more things to do.

I liked the soundtrack. Very atmospheric and calming in free roam, and fits well with racing.

Due to how little content this is, it is difficult to recommend this game to many people. You will have that inital "wow" factor, but then quickly realize how small this game is. For that, this game is a 7/10 (for now). I'll improve this rating when the game gets updated with more things to do.

This isn’t really a game, it is an experience. The price tag is way too high for the content the game is providing. I just bought this game because everyone was telling it looks so sharp. I can’t confirm this. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t blurry but still really far away from any WOW effect you might expect. It is just boring and couldn’t deliver any meaningful VR experience to me.
