Developing a new title in the sports genre every year and improving at the same time is a real challenge for any company, but Visual Concepts managed to create a true 9th generation experience with NBA 2K23, offering solid visuals, stunning animations and tons of content while staying loyal to simulation gameplay. It is safe to say that the king is back.
Once again, Visual Concepts shows that they deserve all the credit, with solid gameplay and an absolutely huge amount of content. Special mention to Eras, a new addition that sets an inflection point in sports videogames.
I recently changed from ps4 to ps5 and I truly Can say that NBA 2k23 is definitely different and much better than the ps4 version. It feels like I’m playing complete a new game after that lame ps4 version of the game. Different menus, fast loads and the game play is actually different and don’t have a lot of errors like the one in ps4 version of the game. Little changes like when you make a three point the camera angle changes for the shot and it follow the ball and everything. I love it!
NBA 2K23 is a solid step forward pretty much in every aspect, apart from the visuals and MyCareer, that are not as surprising or attractive as they were before.
NBA 2K23 has it all. Its nostalgic ways massage the affection that more traditional NBA fans have for games and teams of the past, while also bringing a little bit of the history that turned the NBA into the emotional machine it is today. All of this combined with gameplay changes like improved spacing and better AI make this an ideal game for sports game fans. NBA 2K23 is indeed one of the best experiences for basketball fans in games, but please, stay away of its microtransactions. Particularly, we focus on the parts without it and that's the path for some real fun.
When we throw all the listed elements into a pot and mix them, we get an excellent playable basketball, which is great to watch and you will enjoy every single virtual game. But we already feel the stagnation in the series and the technical shortcomings do not help either.
NBA 2K23 takes you back in time to relive legendary moments in Basketball history and it also packs a fun career mode aside from its A.I issues and unbalanced multiplayer gameplay.
Old gameplay mechanics and some minor innovations are not guaranteeing that this series is going in the right direction. Sports games and real money microtransaction don't mix well. Zero respect for the time of the players that don't have fat wallets.
VC microtransactions have made MyCareer mode pretty much unplayable, the Jordan mode is great but for a full priced game to charge even more and more to play a mode I’ve already essentially paid for is just crazy greed on 2Ks part and shows no sign of slowing down with it getting worse each year.
I like NBA 2k23, it is a great game of Basketball with some minor issues which decreases this rating. First of all the good, the Basketball feels real, I have created a PF like I play in real and I do actually the game I do in real, from movements and Defensive work, for sure the dunks are not so easy for me in real :D but besides that you really feel the player, that he is heavy and tall, when you control a PG you really feel the difference. The opponents make great adjustments to the game, double team my Player when needed and when it makes sense. The graphic is as usual awesome, also small details in the crowd are awesome. Commentary best in the business! The story is also kind of what the world is like...tweets, followers, social media, the look, it catches all the actual "first world problems" which the kids have these days. Some minus points, but not really minus, I mean sure upgrading your player takes a lot of grind and time, but it is also realistic somehow. I would not like going the 60 OVR to a 90 OVR directly in 1 season. For sure you cannot compete online with people who invested extra. But my focus is on the PvE so it is realistic that it takes time to improve. I compete against All Star already, so all good. If LeBron is still better than me in my first season than that is correct ;) What I do not like is the presentation in myPlayer! It is awesome when you play normal but in myPlayer the commentary gets cut when Free Throws happen, the cuts are too quick. No intro sequences, no cool camera moves before Free Throws, this is actually for me really 3 points decrease as I like the presentation so much and that is all missing in **** the college flashbacks you have that but not in the actually season you play.
In the end, it is a great game, I really like it this year!
Game is like every year, same. They stopped to improve game. Graphics is not well optimized, I got frame drops on Performance mode, replays and cut scenes as always low fps... I purchased on discount, played few matches and deleted this 150GB game... Jesus, GTA is smaller
Bad MyPlayer mode, with awful UI, terrible graphics in the MP mode. Horrendous story, that insults your intelligence as a basketball player and as a video gamer. I buy the game every few years as an updated roster, but this time it was egregious how bad the campaign is. The other modes are good, and the gameplay is very smooth, but locking a game mode behind a paywall is ridiculous.
SummaryNBA 2K23 features a completely rebuilt version of NBA 2K11's Jordan Challenges that had players trying to virtually recreate Jordan's real-life feats. One of these was a challenge to score at least 38 points and grab 7+ rebounds like Jordan himself did in June 1997 during his memorable "flu game" when a sick Jordan still put up big numbe...
