Although Pix the Cat is clearly influenced by games such as Snake, Pastagames' puzzler rightfully makes a name for itself with gameplay that is both challenging and fun.

Pix the Cat manages to be an interesting meeting point between the dynamics of Pac-Man and those of Snake, and propose well-designed puzzles and fun gameplay, able to stimulate your wit and your reaction time.

An arcade experience so authentic it'll have you shoving 10p coins in your Vita's cartridge slot.

To me, Nostalgia mode feels like Pix the Cat at its best. Unlike the main mode it's played out on a single screen with no combo considerations, but unlike the forgettable Laboratory mode there's still a time concern. The thing that really makes it work, though, is the puzzle design, which is wonderfully inventive.

Ultimately, there just isn’t enough here to make a full recommendation.

The game relies on you playing over an over again until you learn to think in the way it wants you to, and boy is that ever rewarding.

There's a ton of complexity here, from figuring out how to wall grind to compensate for the very purposeful movement, learning map layouts in terms of movement patterns rather than button presses, managing your speed to not crash into walls but keep the multiplier, and a lot more. And figuring that all out, getting the hang of how each individual system works together, is one of the better rewarding feelings a game can give you.

A really deep set of mechanics combined with two sets of bonus puzzle levels, two arcade grids, and a daily challenge, PIX feels like the best combination of oldschool arcade and newschool score chasing.

Un juego bastante divertido pero que sufre de visibilidad con algunos puzzles por el cambio en las dimensiones de algunos niveles

A puzzle game that's simplicity ends up being it's downfall. It requires nothing more than rote pattern memorization. Memorizing level layoutsA puzzle game that's simplicity ends up being it's downfall. It requires nothing more than rote pattern memorization. Memorizing level layouts in order to get your combo up and make the best use of your limited time is the way to succeed in this game. As you do you'll find yourself getting farther in the arcade grids and getting higher scores, the latter being the objective of the game.

This sort of gameplay makes it accessible to any type of gamer and perfect for pick up and play sessions on the go. However only those who take the time to perfect their strategies will master the experience. The problem is there isn't much variety here and after a while it just gets stale.

It's got an old-school style to it, and hardcore high-score hunters are most likely going to enjoy studying and perfecting the levels. However the repetition and lack of variety will push the less-hardcore of us away.
