BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! tells a beautiful, minimalist story that can appeal to everyone. Like everything else, it's brilliance is in its simplicity.

Boxboy + Boxgirl is a banging, box-based Brain-teasing bonanza and brilliant at a budget price.

BoxBoy+BoxGirl is a successful and enjoyable puzzler with enough new additions in co-op and the rectangular box segments to feel fresh and new. While some aspects of BoxBoy’s design are well-worn and overdone in the fourth entry, the entire package is endearingly charming with its minimalist presentation and clever twists that make most retread portions mere bumps in the road that don’t detract from the overall fun.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is another quirky, charming puzzle platformer from HAL. It might not have quite as outlandish box types as Bye-Bye BoxBoy!, but it makes up for that as a welcoming entry on Switch for newcomers, stacks and stacks of bitesized puzzles and a new co-op mode to boot.

Bigger and more fully featured than ever, BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! marks a high point in this quirky puzzle-platformer series. It's not perfect - the stripped back aesthetic and lethargic physics won't be everyone's cup of tea - but fans of co-op puzzlers, in particular, should investigate pronto.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is far from a total reinvention, but the series remains as charmingly enjoyable as it always has. The addition of a fun co-op adventure is just the cherry on top of an already solid package.

While Bye-Bye BoxBoy! remains the pinnacle of the series, BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! is a more than worthy entry.

The best in the series, with much more levels and a pretty fun cooperative mode.

It is only $10 and is about 5 hours long, compare that to a Nintemdo published release like Kirby Star Allies which us $60 and the same length, 5 hours long. Beyond that, the co-op mode and collectibles can get you about an extra 10 hours. "OK," you may say, "quality over quantity, right?". Fair enough. This game's puzzles are simple yet challenging and fun, perfect bite sized brain - teasers for the switch. Every single world introduces a new mechanic, and that mechanic is used a fair amount, not enough to feel tired, but more than just scratching the surface. The story is minimalist, yet the cutscenes are still charming and engaging. If you have an extra $10 don't go the wrong way. Expand

Main puzzles are pretty easy, but completing with low amount of boxes while collecting all crowns gets pretty challenging as you keep going. Level structure and instant rollback work really well in eliminating frustration games of this kind tend to have. Expand

Some of the cut scenes and intermittent screens seemed to interrupt the flow of gameplay, rather than enhance it. And I got tired of the level completion music really quickly. Also, a minor point, but I didn't like how in co-op mode, the default "lead" character is BoxBoy. And that we're still delineating female characters via a bow and eyelashes. Expand

After beating the game, gathering all crowns with ease, using minimum # of boxes (sometimes I used 0 when less than 30 was needed for "3-star". Question to level designers: was I supposed to cheat like that with ease?). For the 99.9% of the game I thought "OMG, this tutorial is really long...". This was actually the very game. Now I can honestly claim that this is one of the easiest and dull logic game ever. I don't even remember if there was ever a game that caused so many yawns during gameplay. I see only one reason to buy this game: If you need to use a toilet to make "#2" this game may be good choice to help you with that. Expand
