The controls feel good on Switch, though, and the game is right-sized for its platform in a lot of regards. The races are varied, and progression with level, money, and unlockables goes pretty quick. Graphics are good, especially the car models. Customization features are fairly extensive and provide a great way to make the experience your own. I especially like the garage/workshop customization since it's so different from other racing games. It gives the whole thing a fresh and unique flavor. The only things that make it somewhat difficult to recommend are 1) the $50 price tag seems about $10 too high for it being obviously built on a smaller budget than its contemporaries, 2) while local multiplayer seems great, there's no simultaneous online play, 3) there are a few missing things like a Single Race mode that would've enhanced the package considerably, and 4) it could strike some players as being too generic if they're used to stuff like Forza. None of that really bothers me, but mileage will vary depending on what kind of gamer you are. Still, for the first racing game on Switch with licensed real-world cars, it's a decently satisfying purchase. I'll definitely spend some time with it casually between Skyrim sessions, so at least it's not the type that I play once and shelve indefinitely. There's already a lot of content, but free DLC is promised over the next couple months that could enhance it further. In its current state, I'd give it a solid 8/10, and frankly, that may be a little better than I expected. Expand

There are a lot of races and championships dispatched on a huge map and its seems a lot of car from real manufacturers are available. While it seems there is no online play at this moment at least, there are some kind of daily challenges where you race against others players (time trial) and I really like it. I played this game for a week, on the switch, but it wasn't a nice experience, I just played it because I felt bad spending 40€ and never use it, the biggest problem of this game is hat on the switch it has half a second of input lag, especially when it's in doc mode. This makes the game so annoying to play, furthermore, the races are really short and the playtime is 50% loading time.I played this game for a week, on the switch, but it wasn't a nice experience, I just played it because I felt bad spending 40€ and never use it, the biggest problem of this game is hat on the switch it has half a second of input lag, especially when it's in doc mode. I started with the arcade mode and honestly, it is a lot of fun. It allows you to progress nicely throughout the game. The simulation is great but obviously tougher to manage. Still working on it...
The real cool thing is the performance shop where you can customize your car at will, depending on your race results of course. Love it.

    Hi everyone,
That's a good surprise, I played 5 hours and this game is very addictive! All the mechanics of the game invite you to go further again and again. The career mode is very complete. Customization and mechanics on top. The garage which we can design as we want is great. The races are short but intense and give a true impression of speed.
I recommend this game for all players

The game isn't horrible but it isn't exactly good either. The controls are very arcade which is fine but for some reason despite the arcade roots you can't really drift. If you hit the ebrake you not only slow down way too fast but you also easily lose control because the car behaves in an odd way physics wise.

You can also ignore the driving line in most cases. Just because it says you need to brake doesn't mean you do which can be confusing so I suggest getting the control down as best as possible and then shut the driving line off.

The graphics and audio are decent with the graphics being better than the audio. The cars have enough detail as do the tracks but things like smoke and particles effects are basically missing. There are also menu errors, for example if you set options to show MPH instead of kph it will display properly in a race but in the menus it will only show kph.

Load times are a bit long consider each race generally lasts 1-2 min which is far too short. There are tons of events, over 400 in fact but they reuse assets constantly and again the race itself may be over in literally 1 min. The longest race I've had so far was 3min 12 seconds.

If you absolutely NEED a new racing game and the switch is your only place to game then go ahead and buy it despite it being over priced there aren't many options for racing games right now. However if you have any other platform, even mobile you should think twice. This is a port of a mobile title and it shows but what really hurts is the $50 price tag.

So I'm giving the game a 5 which to me means it's average. I'm not IGN where 7 is average lol. 5/10 is a fair score for this title. There is fun to be had but don't buy it expecting it to compete with any other console or pc racing game on the market.

    If the game was $15-20 I'd give it a 7/10 but for $50 it's kinda lucky I didn't give it a 4.

    Buyer beware.

It features a race type that I have never seen before in anything race game. A point to point race that you race until you get to a round-about and have to race back to the start point. This makes being a head of other racers dangerous as you now have to navigate through oncoming traffic.

The game is held back by a terrible UI. instead of navigating a nice menu, you have a 3D map that you have to hunt down icons to find your race or dealership. And the cardboard cutout race crew that talk to you made me feel like I am playing a hidden object game.

The garage building mini game/system is actually a lot of fun and provides a quick break between races to do something different.

The controls require a bit of finesse to drive smoothly. The thumbsticks on the joycons have very little travel so it is hard to be precise. Thankfully the motion control steering is spot on.

The game starts out very slow with a few boring races, but this is best racer on the switch at this time.

The garage sucks and just is like dragging a ball till they ache. Mostly due to agonising load screens, 3 before you get into the game from loading.

Which you can tell this is where it's roots lie a ay yo advance model, short races and awfully long winded rpg garage. Which is not ergonomic on switch docked. Certainly better than laggy un playable gear club 2 switch, which has terrible input lag which unfortunately breaks the game. I bought this for less than £5 so can't really argue with the price but I played about 15 minutes and deleted the game. The handling is really appalling, it's overly sensitive on a pro controller and it cannot be changed in the settings so I couldn't go on. The visuals and sound seemed ok but I couldn't get past the terrible handling.

The Gear.Club is as an excellent mobile racing game, as a the Gear.Club Unlimited is a bad console port. The pros that work great in the free-to-play mobile model are not enough for the console audience. The game suffers from repulsive visuals, a poor car selection, bugs, but above all an unsatisfactory driving model. If you don´t need to play some racing game right now, just wait for another one. Otherwise, Gear.Club Unlimited will not offer you much, only little entertainment, if you are indulgent.

Gear Club Unlimited tries to be the race game the Nintendo Switch needs and deserves, but fails. The racing aspect is good for on the go gaming, but the brakes don't really work and if you've seen three or four environments, you've seen them all.
