Speedway Racing is a mostly competent but ultimately unexceptional attempt to emulate the thrills and spills of Daytona USA – a courageous endeavour indeed. But like the many faux sponsorship advertisements dotted around this game’s speedways, closer inspection drops the curtain to reveal some hard-to-ignore shortcomings. The fun we got out of it clearly demonstrates potential, but a severe lack of customisation options, absence of smooth 60FPS performance and the availability of better racing games on the Switch all conspire to put an unavoidable dent into the bodywork. This is still fun for a few days without ruining your bank account, but it is forever left-turning near the back of the pack.

I’ve played a good chunk of racing games on the Switch at this point, and Speedway Racing is by far the lowest effort I’ve seen yet. If it functioned properly and ran smoother, then it would at least be worthy of consideration as a compact title. But in this state, you’re better off avoiding it and picking just about any other racer. Sega Ages: Virtua Racing isn’t stock car racing like this, but it does have similar arcade-style circuit tracks. It’s about the closest thing, and despite being one of the earliest 3D racing games ever, it’s a far more enjoyable experience than this poor indie.

If you love getting chain red shelled and lightning striked in mario kart you'll love this game. The AI will ram you, the physics will go crazy. The controls are not good. All things considered, i bought it as a casual game to play while plastered with the mates.. I doubt we'll be able to deal with the frustration. Expand

The Negativ side - its almost unplayable trash with the feel of PlayStation1/N64 graphics, really awful control ( more like steering a bus on ice ) as you will crash into almost every turn or corner. The courses are pretty much all the same 0-courses. The cars handle are same terrible just in blue, red or green. Dont waste you money.

The drifting does not work right, compared to other games I've played. The controls are very "sticky", not real responsive at all. It's almost impossible to not slam into other cars and/or the wall at least a few times during a race.

In other games I've used, the controls respond to all the different directions you'd push on the joycon; in this game, if you push the joycon to the left, the car KEEPS moving left, until you push back to the right....this is very frustrating, and you have to keep over-correcting for this, and that is why I say it's almost impossible not to slam into something.

To make matters worse, the cars will always slam into you if you do stop for some reason, so it's possible to not be able to make a checkpoint, just because you keep getting hit from behind.

If you want to play by yourself, you'd think that would be easier - no cars to slam into you, but now you have to contend with little yellow "speed boosters" (for lack of a better term) which boost your speed, and make it nearly impossible to drift around curves and such.

I honestly have to say this is the WORST racing game I've ever played, and sincerely regret making this purchase, even though it was just a few bucks, as it was on sale.

I will be checking this site from now on, for reviews before making a purchase, so I don't get another dud.

    Hope this has been helpful.
