To be sure, it’s not perfect, and to enjoy Wrestling Empire you need to be willing to overlook a lot. Provided you can do that, however, you’ll find that you’ve got one of the most enjoyable wrestling games in years at your fingertips.

The love of the sport permeates throughout the entirety of Wrestling Empire. Even with the issues inside the ring, the promise of greatness awaits in the gorilla position. With continued support from MDickie and a remarkable level of customization, this is the best wrestling game available on the Switch; although, it does need some refinement to keep hold of that title.

Wrestling Empire is the video game equivalent of Paul Heyman-era ECW. It's low-budget, it's extremely rough and it's often difficult to watch, but there's a clear passion for pro wrestling underneath it and we're sure it'll develop a hardcore following of fans who love it in spite of its many, many flaws.

Wrestling Empire is repetitive and its lack of online multiplayer is disappointing. However, it has one of the deepest rosters in the history of wrestling games, and despite modeling itself after a game that's over 20 years old, still manages to perform better than some modern day wrestling games that have much bigger budgets. If nothing else, it's something to keep pro wrestling fans busy while they wait for the next WWE 2K or the upcoming AEW video game.

It is kind of impressive that one person was able to create a Switch wrestling game that runs well part of the time when two teams at a major pub couldn’t even pull that off. However, Wrestling Empire isn’t quite “so bad it’s good” territory, nor is it the worst. It’s basically the small indie wrestling company bringing in a guy with TV exposure to sell tickets. And with more competition coming in the short and hopefully longer terms for Switch wrestling games, it’ll be one of those “Oh yeah, that happened” games in short order.

Wrestling Empire offers the career mode most wrestling fans are hoping for from a WWE game, but the standard of action inside the ring lets it down. Not quite ‘so bad it’s good’, the wrestling action is just frustrating to play.

Hands down, the best wrestling game on the switch! Forget about WWE 2K18(very bad) and WWE 2K Battlegrounds (mediocre)!

If I could describe this game in three words it would be chaos, wacky and fun. This is not meant to be wrestling simulation game but rather an arcade game who doesn't take itself seriously. Mdickie games are diamond in the rough. Sure it doesn't look good graphically and it can be a bit glitchy sometimes, but if you can see past that you find a wrestling game that allows you to express yourself like no others can. Expand

The best wrestling game on the Switch, bar none. This also goes to show that gaming publications are not to be trusted blindly.
