This high-energy game features over three hundred levels, a variety of activities, a cast of over thirty wacky characters, and an easy-to-use in-game editor that allows players to express their creativity. Fun for kids and the entire family, Boom Blox offers action-packed interactive activities that takes Wii play to a new level of creativity and fun with single player, co-op, and versus gameplay. Players can explore the visceral gameplay—perfectly suited for the Wii’s interactivity—that keeps them destroying their way through brain-twisting challenges. They can interact with entertaining characters such as the Blox-laying chickens or the baseball throwing monkeys, who bring personality to the Tiki, Medieval, Frontier, and Haunted themed environments. Additionally, players can remix any level of the game in Create Mode using props, blocks, or characters that have been unlocked during the game. Players can also virtually build anything they can dream up. Plus, their designs can then be shared with friends or used to challenge others to solve their newly created puzzle via WiiConnect24. Boom Blox may not be the best Wii game, depending on your proclivities, but it's definitely the best use of the Wii yet. It's immensely accessible, wonderfully tactile, and stands as one of the best treatments of gaming in a 3D space.
  2. Boom Blox offers robust creation tools that let players construct their own puzzles and levels, then share them online.
  3. Boom Blox is the type of game that innocently eats up time, with you playing with a smile on your face until you realise you've been sat in the same position all evening.
  4. The simple concept and limited amount of ready-made content mean Boom Blox is not suited for solo use or hardcore power-players. But if you’ve got friends and you’ve got a Wii, Boom Blox approaches Wii Sports in terms of mass-appeal and playability, which for anyone who’s seen grandma bowl is definitely saying something.
  5. The childish design and the often strong colors may not seem pleasant to all, but this is a small price to pay for such an appealing game.
  6. Nothing about the game really rings "Spielberg," so I am not too sure how much work he actually put towards the game. The multiplayer portion does bump up the value of the title, though, and the large assortment of different single player levels with different awards for completing it under different circumstances also goes far to make the game a definite purchase.

A great kids game. Teens and adults without children, however, may not find Boom Blox so entertaining. [Issue#23, p.72]

It's just pure and simple fun, and a total riot of laughs quite often, especially in multi-player as you create precarious situations for your opponent. There's so much variety in the levels it's astounding how much they packed in for release. I just wish they had an anonymous community library of player-created levels instead of the silly Wii friend-code system, which is not EA's fault though. Expand

It is basically super easy and fun to play. However, even friends who never play video games noted "wow why are the graphics in this game so bad?". Not a pretty game at all. But then again, so much of the Wii has to be dedicated to processing the physics that better graphics may have been an impossibility. Expand

The multiplayer could have been so much more (that's what I bought it for.) By no means is it UNplayable, just not a 9/10 like the ratings say. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it. Expand
