Red Steel: A Pioneering Journey into Interactive Swordplay. Red Steel, released in 2006, holds a special place in gaming history as a title that dared to innovate, delivering a unique and immersive experience that, in many ways, was ahead of its time. While it may not have achieved the widespread acclaim of some blockbuster titles, its groundbreaking approach to combining first-person shooting with swordplay makes it a trailblazer in the gaming landscape.
What are people smoking? This isn't a horrible game, it's honestly great. Story very underrated and the atmosphere was unique with this game. Yeah enemy AI was a little stupid at times but a lot of games has this problem.
Once the final credits roll and only the memories of your experiences remain, underneath the oddly coloured skin of different environments, controls, and concepts, Red Steel is very much a first person shooter like all those other 'normal' first person shooters.
It blazes a lot of new trails but doesn’t make much headway, and the traditional shooter elements aren’t done very well. The multiplayer really needs more depth, but hopefully the inevitable sequel will do it better, because I can’t imagine playing deathmatch very long with the controls as they are.
The enemies almost seem to know you’re at a disadvantage, control-wise. They’re far from the brightest opponents, often standing around seemingly bored when they have clear shots at you. This does keep things from becoming frustrating, but in this era of challenging AI in games like "FarCry" and "Gears of War," Red Steel can sometimes feel like a throwback.
People hated it because it had Wii controls and complained about the graphics, remember it was released on a Wii hardware. It was a great game. Gunplay is pure quality, story felt somehow unique, and level design was fantastic. The sword fight was also fun. Don't listen to haters for this game.
A rather generic FPS in a similar vein to Goldeneye 007 set in the world of the Yakuza. The sword combat sections feel a little tacked on, but it's well engineered and enjoyable to play.
I feel this game was like a Golden Eye 007 for 64 attempt while adding rails, the game is ok but it put me to sleep quick. I love the original 007 but this game is ridiculous. The controls are crap and i disliked the game all together. Deserves a 4 for effort.
An interesting idea. Just done poorly. The controls are horrid and the Wii sensor seems to have quiet a bit of trouble picking up the sword movements. I would not play this again simply out of sheer frustration, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
