A finicky port of a great game which is still good, but if you're a Splinter Cell n00b, you're wasting your time. And Sam's. And he's a guy you really don't wanna cross. [Feb 2007, p.66]

The storyline, which is actually one of the best in the franchise, can’t make up for level design that feels boring and controls that frustrate.
  3. Not as bad as I feared, not as good as I'd hoped. I find some features, such as camera control, more intuitive than even the 360 version. Other functions don't hold out so well.
  4. Splinter Cell: Double Agent on Wii is definitely workable and even enjoyable, but you've got to work for it and and that may turn a lot of people off.
  5. Take the complicated controls of this popular superspy series and make them even more finicky, lose the online versus mode, and you get Double Agent for the Wii.

Some games don't work with a particular control method. This is one such game. If you want some decent spy action with a practical control system, get the GameCube version. [Feb 2007, p.83]

The graphics are a little disappointing--besides some added lighting effects and better in-game videos, there aren't a lot of improvements over the GCN version. [Jan. 2007, p.97]
  8. It's got exciting stealth gameplay and the controls offer some fun once players get used to them, but the lack of multiplayer, a strong visual appearance and a user-friendly save system make this a weak but enhanced port of the Xbox or PlayStation 2 version.

With its sloppy controls and a total lack of online multiplayer mode - that's right, the Wii version has no "spies vs. mercenaries," battles, just a poorly implemented split-screen mode - it's tough to justify this version's existence.

A Splinter Cell outing but one that glaringly isn't well suited to the Wii control system. [Mar 2007, p.76]
  11. 55
A blatant rush-job, Splinter Cell Double Agent may appeal to hardcore fans of the series, but doesn’t offer anything new to the genre.
  12. It’s a bad port with terrible graphics, few modes and controls that will anger many.

THE GOOD: Well, it's still a Splinter Cell game. THE BAD: The controls. THE ULGY: The graphics. This is the worst Splinter Cell game I'veTHE GOOD: Well, it's still a Splinter Cell game. THE BAD: The controls. THE ULGY: The graphics. This is the worst Splinter Cell game I've played and it is one of the few games that I regret buying. Oh god, do I regret spending money on this. The controls are the worst part by far, but the graphics are about as equally bad. I know that the Wii isn't known for graphics, but come on. It being on the Wii is no excuse for ugly graphics. You can only use the Wiimote/Nunchuck with clunky motion controls. This version also lacks online multiplayer, but includes split-screen missions. "Double Agent" is a good game, but this is the worst way to experience it. I would rate it with a 7 out of 10. Full Review »

And of course the sneaking around, which is what the game is all about, can be a lot of fun. My only gripes are that the game is pretty short, and the wiimote + nunchuk controls are quite bad (I would have loved an option to use a Classic Controller Pro). Full Review »
