Scopely has covered pretty much all the expected bases with WWE: Champions, and there’s little doubt that fans of sports entertainment are going to be hooked as soon as they launch it for the first time and have The Rock guiding them through a tutorial match against Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I would like to say it is pay to win but the ux is so bad I can't even navigate how to spend money. I will say the homescreen, events layout, and early user progression system in the past year has really improved my experience but I am still really salty about receiving only 2 health packs during the Invasions event I spent 18 hours playing.
Another wasted potential with the WWE brand.
I really wanted to like this game, but it's impossible. The story is that you are a new manager and has to hire new wrestlers and get big. Ok, not that special but ok, after that it falls apart.
The grind adds up so fast and almost ALL the best characters are locked behind payments or the longest grind ever. The concept is actually a little fun, adding Candy Crush with a WWE cinematic fight but even that is flawed when the opponent uses the same tiles as you, so you can't prepare moves and the AI actually cheats on higher levels, creating big combos out of combinations from new tiles. Every fight your wrestler gets hurt, and if his health reaches 0, he's out for an hour, when he's back, he's at half health....
To improve your wrestler you need 5 of the same item, but you can only get it on RNG loot bags (Good Luck, only duplicates and Health Packs) or once every week you can actually win it in a special fight, you could get more but for this item in question your wrestler will be too weak to go for the next fight... Seriously, the graphics, moves, cinematic, so great... the lack of content, grind, pay to continue really takes everything away.
A blatant cash grab of a mobile game that represents everything wrong with mobile games. Right off the bat, you get offers to spend real money on a game you haven’t even played yet to upgrade your characters and buy new wrestlers!
Second, through the course of your journey through the venues and matches, there are matches you can’t play until you unlock a specific wrestler. I see this and I think, “Okay, I’ll drop a few bucks to buy the wrestler I need to get to play that match.” SURPRISE! You can’t unlock specific wrestlers when you need them.
You have to be subjected to random unlocks. You could drop a hundred dollars in unlocking wrestlers, and you could never get the wrestler you need to play that match! Even worse, you could end up with duplicates of wrestlers you already unlocked. Those you already unlocked would serve as training posters to upgrade the moves of that wrestler.
The programming is insanely unbalanced. You could match three or four gems to attack your opponent. Then, you opponent matches three and the screen explodes in flashes of lights and columns and rows of gems disappear. All this because the AI can anticipate gems that are off-screen, putting the player at a gross disadvantage.
If you line up enough loot gems, you can unlock additional prizes after winning a match. The loot gems hint at possibly winning upgrade tokens like Mr. Perfect’s Gum or Rob Van Dam’s Yin Yang, both of which are hard to find. Yet, after winning the match and matching loot gems, I always almost end up with just winning 100-200 coin tokens. Blatant false incentives.
Scopely is more interested in getting your money rather than offering a satisfying gaming experience. Cheap programming, the obnoxious random nature of buying wrestlers, false incentives, and the frequent offers to spend money instead of playing to earn upgrades, this is a game you should ignore.
This is the epitome of "pay to win."
the staff at Scopely does not help you out. i have been trying to get credit for a free offer and they wont credit my account. we are going on 3 weeks now and still they wont help. also just like the others have said it is a cash garbing game. dont spend your real money on this game. play the free game if you want but stay away from spending your real money and watch the offers if it takes more than an hour to complete the offer then dont do the offer.
