  1. For fans of hunting games only. The graphics and sound are not even close to what 360 gamers deserve. The gameplay is less than inspiring, and there are some absolutely awful minigames you must complete to progress in your career.
  2. The progression in the career mode is interesting, and trying to bag a moose from a down-town one-shot-kill is just plain intriguing.
  3. While it’s nice that the game tries to mix stuff up with the duck hunting and the fishing, none of these additional activities excel in any way. The A.I. is lacking, the excitement is lacking, and so are the graphics and sound to convince me I’m there.
  4. All in all, while occasionally entertaining, the hunting sequences of this game just aren’t fun enough to appeal to most people and that’s all this game really has going for it given that the minigames aren’t even worth mentioning.

You'll find more action at a sports day for coma patients. Still, it has a bizarre appeal, just don't blame us for feeling guilty afterwards. [Issue 15, p.93]

Cabela's Alaskan Adventures needed a complete overhaul for Xbox 360 and, instead, we've been given a sloppy port of the old generation engine and gameplay. The way hunting and fishing are presented falls outside the realms of pure simulation and arcade fun, making for a confounding mishmash of ideas that don't work together.
  7. It certainly has enjoyable moments, but overall just doesn’t deliver the visceral experience that hunting should be.
  8. The AI, as mentioned earlier, is really poor. The animals do not behave anywhere the manner you would expect, and even the hunters themselves all seem to be asthmatic couch potatoes based on the breakneck speed in which they fatigue.

If you've ever wanted to be a wheezy, out-of-shape hunter tramping through the snowy Alaskan wilds of Ketchikan and Sitka, then this game's for you. [Holiday 2006, p.76]
  10. This would be a nice (if distasteful) stalk-'em-up, but it's so wretchedly broken in places.
  11. It’s floundering helplessly in transition from PC to Xbox 360.

This is definately the best of the cabella's hunting games. Free roam game but a little dated now as this was a real early 360 game. After finishing this game I can say it is one of the worst pieces of crap that I have ever played. There are so many things wrong with thisAfter finishing this game I can say it is one of the worst pieces of crap that I have ever played. There are so many things wrong with this game it is ridiculous. Animals can leap and attack you from over 10 feet away (even from the other side of a small hill) and they do not even need to touch you to actually hurt you. You can stand right in front of an animal and shoot at it point blank and still miss. Everything about this game is atrocious from the graphics to the game play. I cannot even give this horrible thing a 1. I consider it to be broken. It would take all day to list the problems this game has. Graphics would be a kin to last generation console graphics. Game play and controls are horrible. It has no replay value at all. Do not waste your time on this. If all Cabela games play like this, do not even bother picking any up. Money would be better spent picking up Duke Nukem Forever. (Yes, this game is that bad.) Full Review »

It's about the gameplay!!! People judge too often it's graphics. This the most played title in our home.
