Mar 24, 2011When you combine engaging and unique gameplay with Swarm's pleasant (but dark) aesthetics and whimsical nature, what you have is a great downloadable game.
-
Mar 24, 2011Swarm links together superb gameplay design, a deep but accessible control suite, and an original premise with such well measured pace and verve that it would send its own brilliantly engineered score multiplier off the charts. It's yet another example of why the most innovative and refreshing games of our time sit on the digi-download platforms. Content is a slight issue for the asking price but, then again, you'll enjoy every second of what's on offer.
-
Apr 5, 2011Swarm is far from perfect, with often frustrating moments, but once again XBLA comes through and gives a game that offers something a little different a market in which it can flourish. At 800 Points there is no reason not to jump in and enjoy all that Swarm has to offer.
-
Mar 28, 2011Even when it's at its most curiously punishing, Swarm is dexterous enough to reward those who put the time into learning its methods and also satisfies with the type of cartoon violence that makes for a very endearing and well-made game on the whole.

May 25, 2011When all is said and done, Swarm is one of the few titles that can make frustrating, fun. It's certainly not a game for everyone, but if you can overlook some of the rough edges, there is a good time to be had. At 1200 MSP ($15), Swarm is on the pricier side for a downloadable title, so if you're on the fence, give the demo a try first. But if you've been jonesing for some good Lemmings-style action, this may be the closest you're going to get unless Sony decides to revive the Psygnosis classic one day.
-
Apr 26, 2011The core game just needed a bit more refinement to match up with what seems to be an exciting initial vision. If that had panned out, I honestly believe Swarm could have been something great.

X-ONE Magazine UKApr 25, 2011A contradictory videogame premise that screams frustration from its opening stage, and continues in that vein thereafter. [Issue#71, p.103]
