Mugsters is a wonderful little game and unlike just about anything you have played before. It is worth the time and money, and despite lacking a little in replayability, it makes up for it in charm and the clever avenues it delivers for you to compete objectives.

Mugsters offers up a great deal of variety across its sizable portion of well developed, colorful, physics-based levels. There’s a few issues present, such as the daft AI and the counter-intuitive camera, but even so, the game remains fun, engaging and wide open to choice. Whether you’re exploring, innovating or even just messing around, Mugsters’ puzzles will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Mugsters is a game that contains a good amount of entertainment, and the short length allows for some quick, explosion-based enjoyment. Nonetheless, every so often, the good times can be diminished by small irritants and annoyances that begin to add up. Most of the game will see you repeating the same tasks over and over again with a few tweaks and changes.

When I first got my hands on Mugsters, I was certain it would be something I’d love, mixing wacky physics-based hijinks with high-octane puzzle solving like some sort of indie Just Cause. I know that experience is in there somewhere, buried under the doldrums of tiresome repetition and eye strain. There’s still some fun to be had if you look hard enough, which is fitting for a game where everything is almost too small to see.

Mugsters can be a game like no other at times because in a way it has a number of different genre’s in play at the same time and thankfullyMugsters can be a game like no other at times because in a way it has a number of different genre’s in play at the same time and thankfully for the most part they all combine together really well. At it’s core though this game is a sandbox puzzler and even though it isn’t perfect and it suffers with a few shortcomings here and there on the whole this game can be an incredible amount of fun when in full flow. Once you start the game and eventually work out what to do you realise how simple it is but the simplicity doesn’t hold it back in fact in a way it makes the game even more addictive. I will say though that some of you will be frustrated at the start because there’s no tutorial telling you what to do and an inclusion of a small tutorial would’ve been a nice addition in my opinion. Thankfully though the lack of a tutorial isn’t too much of a problem though and you will easily get the hang of it after a short amount of time. If you like solving puzzles then you will absolutely adore this game and the best thing is that each puzzle provides you with quite a bit of a challenge. Thankfully though the puzzles don’t ever become frustrating and the clever design of each puzzle means they stay fresh and interesting at all times. Technichally the game holds up really well and I was especially impressed with the physics in the game which had a fun and realistic feel to them. This means then that the game is fun when playing on your own or with friends. I would recommend though that you play this game with friends because even though there is fun to be had when playing on your own the game just seems to come alive more when played with friends. Unfortunately though you can only play with friends locally because there is no online component included and in my opinion this is a shame because I think an online component would’ve benefited the game a lot. Another thing that would’ve benefited the game in my opinion would’ve been the inclusion of a story because they’ve got the perfect setting for a story. Speaking about the setting the presentation side of the game ticks a lot of boxes for me. Visually the game has a lot of charm packed in all areas and the sound design whilst simple combines with the visuals extremely well. At the end of the day Mugsters is one of them game’s that’s perfect to play at a party. It’s a game that never takes itself too seriously and in the end the enjoyment it delivers to you makes you forget about the game’s imperfections leading to me giving the game a thumbs up. Expand
