For six bucks, you get a really thought out shoot ‘em up that both plays fast, strategic, and more importantly, fun. Any fan of the genre should check this game out without question. It may not look the best at times, but man, that doesn’t stop it from be a fun time.

Shoot 1UP DX took me by surprise, as I really wasn’t expecting much from it initially, but its unique mechanics really made for a great experience. It’s also fairly priced at a couple bucks so even though there isn’t much content wise, there’s just enough replayability with its online leaderboards for those that want to challenge themselves. While it won’t catch the world on fire, it’s a decent shmup none the less.

Shoot 1UP DX on Xbox is a chaotic mess of interesting gameplay ideas and a visual onslaught of sci-fi innuendo. As far as shmups go, it definitely deserves points for originality and for the interesting game design. It does, however, lack the level of polish and thoughtful designs that are evident in some of the best games in the genre.

Shoot 1UP DX is quite fun and simple. But simplicity here does it more harm than good; it's too short and lacks in options.

Shoot 1UP DX is a short and sweet game that is good for a quick pick up and play session. I did enjoy trying to max out getting 30 ships at once but I actually found the mode where you only control one ship more fun.

Shoot 1UP DX : Why play shoot 'em ups one ship at a time? Launch them all at once! Unleash an entire armada of ships in Shoot 1UP! Imagine youShoot 1UP DX : Why play shoot 'em ups one ship at a time? Launch them all at once! Unleash an entire armada of ships in Shoot 1UP! Imagine you playing a shoot 'em up game that you controlling many ships instead of one doesn't that sounds crazy? You can make crazy combinations you can bring them together to dodge incoming attacks and projectiles you can expand them to have bigger attacks; trust me it goes crazy when you perform these actions. As an old gamer and shoot 'em up fan I kind of really like the idea enjoyed the gameplay but the backgrounds they have chosen felt a little unusual. I mean obviously they like naked woman. I prefer more straight simple backgrounds because when it's too complicated your eyes are goes almost unable to see the action "My friends and I would just call that blanking, where you saw what was happening in a frantic situation and just lose visibility of the action you needed to perform". Overall and excellent shooter for the Xbox family of consoles and due to the price of admission theres definitely a Shoot 1UP DX thumbs up from this old guy! Expand
