This game does not really break new ground, but it is a good meat and potatoes shooter and has been well designed and promises to be an enjoyable game to play with friends.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood may not be quite what I expected in a new entry to the series, but damn, if it isn’t good. The ‘live service’ additions detract slightly from the experience, but that glorious combat more than makes up for it. Add in some wonderfully crafted play spaces to explore (if only there was a couple more) and you’ve got yourself a great way to spend a weekend. The main campaign will be over quick, but while it lasts, it’s great, wholesome, Nazi killing fun.

No, this isn’t a dark, serious Wolfenstein moment. It’s just pure, unadulterated shoot-em-up coop fun.

Using everything Arkane can do in terms of level-design, Wolfenstein Youngblood offers an interesting new take on what’s a Wolfenstein game. But for a co-op game, it doesn’t have substantial co-op mechanics.

In the end, I feel like I’ll continue to struggle with how I truly feel about Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Its strange and uncomfortable structure, or rather my reaction to it, clearly stems from my love for the “normal” games. It isn’t more of what I loved; therefore, it’s scary. At the same time, some of those scary things are legitimate frustrations that seem to compromise the game to make it more gimmicky. It’s still as charming as ever, and is full of fun characters and dialogue, which makes it harder to really be disappointed. Wolfenstein: Youngblood comes off as a big experiment, and attempts to take something people like and do something new with it. I’m glad MachineGames was afforded the creative leeway to make it.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood falls dramatically short of its predecessor in most ways and feels like a missed opportunity for a great focused, story-driven co-op game. That said, killing all of Hitler’s best friends with a co-op partner at your side isn’t without its enjoyable moments.

All MachineGames and Arkane Studios needed to do was make a straightforward, cooperative Wolfenstein experience. Instead, Youngblood replaces the series’ celebrated narrative twists and turns with humdrum XP grinding and a live-service model. It would be bad in most games, but the fact that it’s in a Wolfenstein title makes it sting a little bit worse.

Still, somehow i wanted to give it a try in single player (where the computer is your "wingman") mode and i just finished the main story. To sum it up: insane and over the top fights (just awesome!), amazing graphics and i love the level design. I totally don't get the bad reviews, did these people actually play the game? It's fantastic!!! skipped the bethesda account stuff, no micro transactions or join game stuff (again, i really don;t like that) Just enjoy this mega blast fest because that is what this game is all about. Do missions from your home-base and blow all enemies to bits and pieces. Great guns (love the Dieselkraftwerk!!) And because i also speak German it's fun to hear all the chatter / announcements etc. (even this has been done very well in the game.) With this I'm off as i still have some side missions to do, I'll bet i'll start this game up quite regularly just to blast some Nazi scum back to hell (with style!). Give it a try! Expand

The new mechanics of 2 characters has to be improved in AI mode and it is true that many times it gets in the middle.
The pseudo mechanical RPG that they have added seems to me a different point and if they do not spend much time it is an interesting change. But please do not forget that it is an FPS and that it should continue to be.
I like the scenarios very much, that being able to reach the same point in several ways and multiple paths seems to me a success, as well as the use of the Vertical scenario.
Things to improve, the companion's AI can be smarter, be more supportive and not get in the way of being insane. But hey it's a simple AI.
And personally I do not understand the raging attack on the game, which I admit is not like the previous ones, but it seems that people are angry with Bethesda for other games than for this one in particular.
This is my humble opinion and as I see it.

Superb maps and pretty good graphics. Enjoying the looting and rpg element. Microtransactions not an issue because we are taking our time looting areas which enables you to do most upgrades. I imagine most of the haters on here are just anti-co-op. Read the Trusted Reviews review for an accurate reviews. Can't trust Metacritic User reviews any more. Posting a "0" review just proves how biased these users are. They are incapable of providing an accurate review. Btw... checkout the PC reviews of the game. Especially the two sisters because the cringe is worse than anything I've ever experienced. I have a brother and a sister, and playing wolfen-cringe was too much for me. The only explanation is that both sisters are brain damaged from when their mom was six months pregnant fighting on the front lines. Expand

The only account I should need on XboxYou can't access the Deluxe Pack, Classic Pack, or online co-op without creating a secondary account. The only account I should need on Xbox is the Xbox account I bought the bloody game with. Last Bethesda game I buy until this stops.

Second, the idiot AI that can't be disabled ruins the game. It's even worse than RE5. The stupid whore will just stand there and watch you die sometimes when there isn't even anything shooting her. It's ridiculously bad.

Plus, the game has glitched achievements, and it appears a couple of the tutorials can be permanently missed because you can't get back to the area. The enemies are also bullet sponges even on normal, and there's entirely too many worthless collectibles, too much repeating the same areas, etc. It's a lousy entry overall.
