Combining first-person shooting and dungeon crawling with a roguelike framework lends to a vibe that feels distinct, and it’s one that we think fans of fantasy themes and old-school shooters will appreciate very much.

This is a good game that combines first-person shooter gameplay with RPG elements. It's a though game, but short. However it has a lot of replay value.

Ziggurat mixes fantasy FPS, RPG and roguelike elements in a successful original mix. A very interesting title that will undoubtedly entertain the more nostalgic gamers.

An exceptionally pleasant surprise. Assembled with a lot of care, a little flair and plenty of conviction. There's little you won't have seen before, but it's an invigorating romp all the same.

Simple but fun. As easy as that, but with almost infinite possibilities due to its randomly generated maps.

Ziggurat is an interesting game. I really enjoyed the fast-paced combat and incremental progression, but the technical issues stick out like a sore thumb. Still, if you can get past those there is a neat experience waiting here. Although the price tag feels a little steep, it never felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth of enjoyment out of it.

Ziggurat combines classic dungeon crawling goodness with a fresh and fun fps mechanic, pretty much playing as the mage from diablo 3 in first person mode. Theres only one way to play, you pick your character, spawn a dungeon, get a weapon and explore, fighting minions and bosses galore with cool trap rooms and a wide variety of weapons and enemies to make every new dungeon exciting to play. The aim of the game is to get from the ground floor all the way to the top, which is no mean feet even on easy difficulty.

Overall for £12 Id say Ziggurat is great value for money, its difficult but rewarding gameplay will keep you coming back for more until youve beaten the game on hard with every character.

Not only are these reviews idiotic but they detract from what the game really is; a rogue-like, randomised dungeon offering, the love child of Hexen and something like Serious Sam.

You have one life, you die you start again (unlocking new items/characters as you go along).

There are five randomly generated floors which will differ every run. You must escape each floor by battling through the zones and finally confronting each floors randomly selected boss. You will encounter trap rooms, shrines which can reward or punish based on a sacrifice of health or mana. You will collect powerful staves, alchemical weaponry, and massacre hordes of deadly carrots.

    + (Positives)

+ Colourful and not bad looking for an indie game.

+ Good choice of spells, items and characters to unlock, even death rewards you with new unlocks.

+ Has a fair amount of re-playability if you can look past the samey environments and creatures.

    - (Negatives)

    - Suffers from some occasionally (and horrendous) frame rate issues. Especially in Obelisk rooms filled with Shamans. Has been responsible for a few of the deaths in recent games. Hopefully this is something that can be patched at a later date.

    - Would of been nice to see a little more variation in enemies.

    - Would of been even better to see more 'magical' looking attack animations.

Worth the cash, would have received 9 or 10 had the frame rate issue been taken care of.
