Lost in Random is a unique mix between a card game and an action/adventure game. The development of the universe and the plot takes a little while to get started, but once you meet Par and his unexpected companions, you start to fall in love with his story in this strange world of Burtonian style. And we can not forget the humor that shines constantly, and the visual and sound section that does not disappoint. Its main problem is that the AI is not very challenging, and it lacks more variety in the cards.

Lost in Random enjoys an exquisite universe, between an artistic direction reminiscent of the golden age of stop motion and a particularly rich narration. Add to that combat mechanics cleverly built and well executed despite some redundancies and some under-exploited ideas. But in the end, Zoink offers us a fascinating macabre tale that never runs out of steam over time and is worth browsing.

Despite these hurdles, we hold no doubt they'll be ironed out in the coming weeks. What will be left is an underrated gem that has unfortunately slipped under the radar. Coming out the same week as Tales of Arise, Life is Strange: True Colors and Sonic Colors: Ultimate, the game appears to have been lost in the noise. It's a shame, but we're confident an audience will be found of people such as us who will love and embrace this game - warts and all. Lost in Random may not strike a chord with everyone, but for those it does, they will absolutely love it.

Lost in Random is an original and engaging adventure, with an original combat system and a unique world that brings to life a dark fairy tale full of nuances and memorable moments. There are some flaws, but they are imperfections that minimally undermine the qualities of a game that undoubtedly deserves the attention of all fans of the genre.

Lost in Random is a very unique game. It has great writing and some of the best art direction of the year. However, the combat system plays a risky gamble that I don't feel quite works out in the game's favour.

It's worth rolling on to the end, but you might find yourself wishing it had more of the concision of its cinematic inspirations, rather than the drag of a family game of monopoly. [Issue#364, p.123]

The game itself has funny parts if you listen to the story and explicit the Story teller. The voices of some Characters are getting beneath the skin like the voice of the shadowman. Im not comoletly done with the game at this moment but played it to city 4. And am absolutely in Love with it Expand

I love the way the dice and cards work, this probably took some inspiration from games like Hand of Fate in this aspect. Initially the story was very interesting and kind of caught me into the game along with the visuals however the more I played through the more the story became cheesy and eventually I lost all interest in it only regaining it slightly at the very end. The combat is, interesting. It is a press B to dodge kind of a thing and you can spawn various items like weapons, explosives, turrets etc to help you from the cards you gather. It is a nice idea but a lot of the combat didn't feel as fluid or responsive as I would liked it to have. Now this isn't a souls game so maybe I'm nit picking here but still it left me wishing for more. Some of the game design choices were also really strange and annoying. I initially intended on completing all of the side quest. You can see how many you have left to do in an area. The problem is that if you progress through the main quest too far you will be moved to the next area without a possibility of coming back. The side quests in the game become accessible as you go through the main story so not all of them can be done at once when you enter the new area. This created a problem where the last side quest in an area didn't become accessible until the very last time you get to walk free in the town in question. I did not notice this because I was too far off from the quest marker and I didn't know that continuing with the main quest further would render me unable to complete that side quest, but that's what happened. After that I just kind of gave up on doing all of the side quests and only did those I stubbled upon. The ending leaves more questions the answers which is disappointing but I am hoping for a sequel that will, hopefully fix some of these issues. Overall it was not a bad game, I wouldn't recommend you outright buy it though. It is on the Game Pass so if you want you can try it there. I still enjoyed my time with it, I just wish some of the things were different and better. Expand

    Lost In Random
    An interesting adventure
Lost in Random is creepy, it’s a 10 hour long card based action adventure game where you play as Even, out to rescue her sister Odd as they’ve been split up on Odds 12th birthday, where all the kids in town roll a die to figure out hwere in Random they’ll ive, she rolls a 6 and is swept away to live with the queen..
Along your way you meet a dice, and you set off an adventure to git the dice more pits so it cann roll higher numbers, to eventually get to the kingdom of 6…
youll also get cards to build of a deck of 15… these cards help in a variety of ways during combat, essentially youll hit weakspots with slingshots, fill up a card so you can roll dicey, the number you roll is how many action points you get to play a card such as having a word, or throwing out a bomb.. even healing.. just to name a few.. and youll do a mixture of combat and exploring these creapy tim burton like towns solving the problems of its residence to help you move on.. .
The greatest aspct of lsot in random is its world building.. I loved living in thise creepy little land.. meeting its colorful cast of charcters.. however I felt like eventually it all just became too much.. I felt like I was mostly sitting through dialog, waiting for my turn to choose a dialog option that didn’t change anything in the world or its gameplay, it was just an artificial choice wasting my time, pretending it was important.. causing me to get bored about halfway through, just wanting to push forward and explore the world, but instead these charcters just wanted to talk and talk and talk.. I stopped caring.. skipping dialog just trying to move on, go to the next section to throw down some dice and mess enemies up, til that too became a bore.. combat here just isn’t satisfying, it’s a novel idea at first reminding me a bit of kingdom hearts unchained memories, I love the idea of deck building for combat, but with how slow cards come out, and how annoying it is to aim for weak spots on enemies in general in terms of all video games, it just felt like a slog at times.. Something I feel that could be fixed with these shtos of my slingshot at least doing a little damage, encouraging me to use cards to be more powerful rather than rely on them to progress forward..
Overall I appreciate the world of Lost in Random, the characters are crazy, the world is intriguing, and there are many great life lessons to be taken, but the pacing from the combat to the story is just awful, its bad and brought this nearly great game down in my eyes.. not by much.. but I found myself noticeable liking the game less and less the more I played it…
    I give Lost in Random
    a 7/10
