  1. A truly great gameplay experience for those who can appreciate the slower manner of play. Some of the tasks can be a bit laborious which could deter some weary newbies to laying down there hard earned green for this one. Be advised, you'd be missing out on a real gem.

The tactical battles can be a load of fun, especially when playing against another human and their much more unpredictable tactics. There's a good amount of depth in that portion of the game that should appeal to strategy fans.

A very fun little game. If you can find someone to play this with, it gets even more entertaining.

For Xbox owners who want an intellectual battlefield challenge that falls somewhere between "Advance Wars" on the GBA and one of the "Close Combat" series, this is probably one you should enjoy.
  5. General ugliness, poor presentation, ropey tactics, and a general lack of charm all doom Shattered Union to that bargain bin in the sky. The plastic CGI storytellers and the fuzzy, characterless maps just leave you with the sour sense of wasted-time rolling around in your skull.
  6. It's certainly a refreshing departure from the usual slew of first-person shooters and urban driving games. But it could have done with a more thoughtful conversion - stripped back from its PC roots and with a less headache-inducing camera, this could have been good.

What kills this title for me, though, is the ridiculous emphasis on scouting. How am I supposed to conquer the continent when I can only see what's happening on 20 percent of any given battle map? [Jan 2006, p.138]
