The feature writing/directing debut for a man whose history is in art departments, it should be no surprise that the pic looks wonderful, with distinctive design and lush settings; but Rothery also fares well with the human element, helped by a mature lead performance by Theo James, best known for the YA Divergent franchise. Great movie, you get sucked into the world. Stunning visuals, Theo James is almost in every frame and carries the movie. Stacy Martin is fantastic too. Can't wait to see what the director comes up with next!

Now, Rothery gives another proof of his visual talent with "Archive". Some people said that "Archive" is a sort of "Ex Machina meets Black Mirror", but I think that's not the right comparison. In my opinion this movie is more a spiritual sequel to "Moon", with the same depht in all its charactersations and the same taste for world building and atmosphere. Yeah, maybe "Moon" was more innovative, but I don't care. This is a kind of sci-fi that's extremely difficoult to find today. This movie is precious. Go watch it immediately if you like the genre… Expand

Hours later I'm still thinking about this film. Gavin Rothery has created an otherworldly environment that is both ethereal and industrial at the same time (can that even be a thing but it is). The J3 sequence (when you watch you'll know what I'm talking about) is super bad-a$$ cool. It'sHours later I'm still thinking about this film. One of the best scifi movies with very emotional and unexpected ending... It sometimes lacks the tension in the middle part but ending wins it . Worth of the second view as you can find details you missed during first view . It leaves you with this special nice emotinal impression movies shall do.

Archive is a surprising scifi movie. Of course, it's not a big budget movie. The story is interesting in many ways because it deals in AI in a couple of different ways. The FX are limited but really well done. I really like the effort that went into J2 and J3. The acting is relatively solid,Archive is a surprising scifi movie. Of course, it's not a big budget movie. The acting is relatively solid, some better then others. The music is ok for that type of movie. If anything, the film was a bit slow and suffers from a lack of tension. I give it 70%.
