The best thing about Flanagan’s film by some stretch is the work by Rebecca Ferguson. The director of “Gerald’s Game” and “Hush” proves again to be a very capable filmmaker when it comes to directing actresses, getting Ferguson’s career-best work to date. Read full review

It doesn’t have Jack Nicholson, Stanley Kubrick or even much of the Overlook Hotel, but Rebecca Ferguson and other good actors provide some shine of their own in Doctor Sleep, a drawn-out and seldom pulse-quickening follow-up to The Shining that still has enough going on to forestall any audience slumber. A soul-killing sequel that gets its kicks torturing and murdering children and offers little hope or redemption. King has long wanted to commit “Redrum” on the reputation of Kubrick’s film, which he openly despises. Nearly 40 years later, this adaptation of King’s 2013 book “Doctor Sleep” doesn’t so much tarnish Kubrick as embarrass itself. Read full review

I love the movie!! Is the best movie of the year!! I’m all the time guessing what’s coming next!! The sound is really good and the imágenes too!! I just love it

Une suite efficace au chefs-d’œuvre de Stanley Kubrick en 1980 ( THE SHINING ). Mike Flanagan nous offre un récit tout aussi divertissant et puissant que The Shining, le film nous montre des flaches back d’un autre point de vus avec des nouveaux acteurs cela est très bien car il ne lesUne suite efficace au chefs-d’œuvre de Stanley Kubrick en 1980 ( THE SHINING ). Mike Flanagan nous offre un récit tout aussi divertissant et puissant que The Shining, le film nous montre des flaches back d’un autre point de vus avec des nouveaux acteurs cela est très bien car il ne les modifie pas par ordinateur. Ewan McGregor est très bien comme d’habitude mais la grande performance résonne dans Rebeca Ferguson ( Rose the Hat ). L’histoire ce suit bien, on a pas l’impression que la fin ne fini plus. Et on a accordé la magnifique fin du roman The Shining à la fin de Doctor Sleep. Ce film est très bon!… Expand

Flanagan has delivered a truly special film here. Doctor Sleep manages to be both entertaining and profound, otherworldly yet grounded. By imbuing the source material with a more meditative atmosphere, Flanagan elevates an already great novel to a higher tier.

Though a bit long in places and too relient of special effect, Dr. Sleep is a good film. It will however be compared to The Shining which is itself a completely different kind of film.

Rebecca Ferguson was electric. The ending sucked (but then again almost all horror movies' endings do). I'm still wondering why Roses' hat was so special.

I haven't read the novel; instead, I've only seen the original movie, like other reviewers. I loved the original, the way the characters evolved, the settings, and the way the whole thing felt. Therefore, I had high expectations for this sequel in order to maintain the suspense of the first.I haven't read the novel; instead, I've only seen the original movie, like other reviewers. Despite how much I like the comparison to the original, I believed the first half of the film was overly drawn out. Too many of the scenes may have been condensed or even skipped to improve the climax. I also concur with others that they should have used CGI rather than another actor for significant characters. The conclusion seems like it could have been so much better. It was alright, but lacking in a few key areas.… Expand

King decides to ride on the coat tails of Kubrick's classic. The whole thing sucks and pulls out the nostalgia of the original to make some money.… Expand
