It’s a delightfully cruel work of high tension, perfect in just how quickly and easily it gets under your skin.
While Green Room shares an aesthetic sensibility with his last film (he shot and directed all his features), Saulnier is up to something very different this time around — something simpler, perhaps, but more immediately satisfying.

O que Jeremy Saulnier fez aqui é pra poucos.
Ao terminar o filme, eu passava por um misto de emoções. O primeiro foi felicidade. Sim, felicidade. Porque é isso que sinto quando assisto uma obra que julgo ser genial. Por outro lado, eu me senti triste ao descobrir que o mesmo foi um fracasso de bilheteira. A obra tem um enredo teoricamente simples, mas a direção de Jeremy Saulnier leva a historia numa amplitude muito maior do que ela supostamente seria.
De inicio, temos um pouco de desenvolvimento por parte da banda, e aqueles poucos minutos já dizem muita coisa. Ao ocorrer o plot, que já vinha sendo preparado pela atmosfera do local, o clima então se torna tenso. O suspense é carregado dali até o final.
O diretor se preocupou muito com a verossimilhança da obra. Tudo parece muito real do inicio ao fim. As mortes são cruéis, lentas e difíceis de digerir. O tom maquiavélico e confiante dado ao Patrick Stewart funcionou perfeitamente bem, a ponto de ficarmos curiosos para saber como e se eles sairiam dali. E a cada morte, nossa esperança se esvanece mais.
Como se já não bastasse toda a tensão, Diretor consegue nos fazer de bobos, ao subverter nossas expectativas o tempo todo. Um uso da "Arma de Chekhov" que eu nunca tinha visto ser feito de maneira tão eficiente. Desde o cachorro rodando pela estrada, o caráter do personagem de Macon Blair - que veio sendo trabalhado desde o inicio apenas com suas expressões faciais - e até mesmo do personagem de Patrick Stewart errando o ultimo tiro.
O desenvolvimento dos personagens continua após o plot, mas de maneira sub-contextual. As ações a partir dali dizem respeito a personalidade de cada um, e isso faz muita diferença. O egoismo consciente e perspicácia da Amber; O espirito de liderança de Reece; A falta de atitude de Tiger; a introspecção de Pat. Todos esses elementos foram muito bem trabalhados, mesmo com pouquíssimos diálogos para desenvolvê-los diretamente.
A fotografia é muito boa, passando bem a geografia do local e trabalhando sabiamente com o escuro. A cenografia é igualmente bem feita, dizendo muito sobre os antagonistas, com placas e sinais ****, racistas, e por ai vai. O Gore é muito real, e poê uma empatia involuntária facilmente. A OST também tem seu mérito, e o elenco está impecável, com um claro destaque a: Patrick Stewart, Imogen Poots, Anton Yelchin e Macon Blair.
Se você é fan de thrillers, está cansado de mesmice e quer algo de qualidade, você tem a minha recomendação.

The cinematography, the set design, the all-important soundtrack, the editing: all first-rate. This is one smart chiller.
For those who enjoy the goriest of thrillers, there is plenty of red running through Green Room.
A ferocious, bloody, primal and pitiless gut-punch of a movie.
As action, it's niftily executed, the suspense neatly built, and the shocks expectedly surprising.
Before the carnage ends, the entire cast has been tortured, mutilated and murdered by so many weapons it’s hard to keep them straight. When the shotguns, box cutters and machetes run out, it’s time to cue the flesh-eating attack dogs.
Patrick Stuart's performance as Darcy really, really sells the film. It's good otherwise as well, with very interesting and well-developed characters.

Jeremy Saulnier hat ein Händchen fürs Unangenehme: Schon sein furztrockenes Rachedrama Blue Ruin war ein garantierter Stimmungskiller. Green Room schlägt in die gleiche Kerbe – und kippt noch literweise Blut und Fleisch darüber. Die linke Punkband Ain’t Rights wählt für den nächsten Gig genau den falschen Ort – eine **** voller gewaltgeiler Pappköpfe. Als sie dann noch einen Mord beobachten, mutiert die ohnehin miese Lage zu einem brutalen Kampf auf Leben und Tod. Anfangs klaustrophobisch spannend, wird Green Room mit jedem Kill stumpfer – und ähnlich kopflos handeln seine Darsteller. Nur Oberglatze Patrick Stewart bringt mit eiskaltem Kalkül etwas Tiefgang in einen ansonsten eher handlungsarmen Survival-Thriller.

This is well directed, well acted and successfully creates great tension. However there are two big negatives - Patrick Stewart is unable to shake off the shackles of his past roles and it just feels plain wrong to have him in this role. And secondly, it's shot with that horrible green/orange filter that every horror film has had over the last five years. Not a fan of the genre but this is one of the better recent examples.

Ce second film semblait prometteur (une sorte de huis-clos impromptu et brutal…) mais s’avère finalement nettement moins bon que son précédent, à savoir le bien plus percutant Blue Ruin ! lequel était bien mieux écrit par ailleurs, cela va sans dire. Jeremy Saulnier n’a donc pu confirmer tout le bien qu’on pensait de lui, hélas.
Il faut dire que ce groupe (minable) de jeunes cons métaleux qui va faire un concert chez les **** de la cambrousse, ce n’était pas vraiment crédible… surtout que ça se goupille de façon fort peu vraisemblable, pour ne pas dire carrément aberrante. Les acteurs sont un brin à la masse (et à l’aune de ce scénar de nanar), malgré la relative présence du bon Patrick Stewart en patriarche suprématiste !
Le film (qui bénéficie d’une mise en scène assez efficace au demeurant) tourne donc au navet typique du genre « survie » visant le public des ados, certes baigné dans une violence frontale que le réalisateur maîtrise parfaitement mais qui tourne court assez vite, la tension initiale s’évanouissant au profit de l’hémoglobine complaisante.
Cela étant, après un début un peu laborieux, le film trouve vite son rythme de croisière et on ne s’ennuie pas une seconde jusqu’à la fin… à peine le temps de compter les morts ! mais on reste déçu, c’est clair.

I won't add much more to the RED comments except that my rating score will go to the honor of Anton Yelchin he's the reason I watched that movie I wish he hasn't done it . I guess 2016 is a bed year for the movies industries so far , most movies are commercials to sell more tickets !
This movie like hundreds you have already watched similar ideas nothing new also with no purpose
group entering a place and getting trapped !
When I search for ( Green Room worst ) ( Green Room bad ) in twitter I saw a lot of people agreed with my opinion and got similar taste of mine , I can't believe how much we have wasted our time in life to watch movies based on false high rating !!! Please stop playing around with rating and adding more scores for movies that doesn't deserve it ....
