A masterpiece. Not the first slasher, but it's probably the best slasher film ever. John Carpenter had a vision and it was great. Too bad production companies love milking great ideas and making **** sequels after **** sequel. Halloween 2 wasn't bad, but unnecessary. Regardless, this is a simple masterpiece with Jamie Lee Curtis at her best and the iconic mass murderer, Michael Myers. Terrifying for its time.
Halloween is one of John Carpenter's best films. One of the best slashers and horror films. The film, which should be targeted by every slasher coming out after. It's hard to overstate Halloween's impact on modern cinema. And all this filmed literally for several tens of thousands of dollars. Carpenter featured one of Michael Myers' most famous and frightening serial killers. The film has a superbly choreographed suspense that clearly gives away references to Hitchcock and his film Psycho. Well, you just feel the connection of these 2 films. And of course, the soundtrack is so simple in its sound but memorable. Halloween can be advised to watch everyone, this is a classic of cinema. Moreover, it is recommended to watch it for the modern generation, which did not see good slashers in a modern cinema.
Carpenter displays an almost perfect understanding of the mechanics of classical suspense; his style draws equally (and intelligently) from both Howard Hawks and Alfred Hitchcock.
There's nary a drop of blood on screen in this rollicking funhouse of a movie but there is enough sheer cinematic ingenuity on display to coax screams out of the most jaded gorehound.
Halloween is a stab at a derivative minor classic. It's apparent where Carpenter got his horror devices - and a minor misfortune that he hasn't been able to synthesize them in a fresh or exciting way.
It’s a enjoyable movie, but not very scary. The beginning is fun, though not amazing it good. The middle is very slow, not scary, or very great. It just follows the characters around and not much happens. The ending has a lot of action but isn’t very scary, except maybe one creepy scene, at least in my opinion. The ending wasn’t great either, I recommend watching it, but it’s not that scary or exciting overall.
Halloween was not the best in the series, because first of all, there was no blood. Which made the movie really ****, A horror slasher film needs to have blood.
