What gives Jumanji its likability is that it has the emphases and comedy beats of an animation, but also the performance technique of live action – and the occasional reshuffling of avatars and players lets the actors show off a little bit further. With this movie, they integrated some Steampunk into the Jumanji world, which makes it less streamlined. They also brought up ideas of ordinary inner conflicts and conflicts between the protagonists. The movie is made for one purpose and one purpose only: to entertain the viewer. And that it does. Even knowing roughly what will happen, the movie's uplifting and bubbly tone, the creativity of the settings and the actors all make it a great fun ride. In true sequel fashion, it is not the hit that its predecessor was. While the use of Danny Devito and Danny Glover is funny, it doesn't hide the fact that characters have the same issues as in the first movie. The charisma of The Rock is non-existent, and other than Jack Black there's notIn true sequel fashion, it is not the hit that its predecessor was.
