Summary: Paris, 1880. 40 year-old Auguste Rodin (Vincent Lindon) finally receives his first state commission, “The Gates of Hell,” which will include “The Kiss” and “The Thinker,” two of his most famous creations. Rodin is no plain biopic, and it certainly doesn’t require knowledge of his work to get hooked on the film. It’s in fact best when it does away with historical details and feels like a film about an artist and their art form, who just happened to exist. Read full review

Not an easy film to watch. Austere and authentic. It avoids overly dramatic tension and dives directly into characters and their artistic devotion. Acting is superb especially Vincent Lindon. Cinematography is beautiful.
